here's the deal..I re-financed through Ocwen, then chase tookover the account.. the problem is ocwen is still coming up on the CRA.almost the

Same amounts. Chase says 36,300 Ocwen says 36,900

I pay chase monthly behind a little but my question is what should i do about ocwen on my report?

If Chase purchased the debt your account with Ocwen should report to say $0balance and the credit limit should be $36,900 or whatever is correct. Send them a letter CMRRR advising them of error, once they sign wait about 15 days for reply if no reply then dispute with the CRA's as incorrect balance. If it comes back verified you may have them on violation if you have the proof to back your claims up. Just my opinion!!!! Good Luck

This might be a case where you would be better served to call the first mortgage company and ask them to report your account correctly. Since they have sold the account to Chase (and I assume the account is still active) they would only need to update the account info with the CRAs.

I agree with you to some degree Tazjeepcj7, but rillibiig should keep his correspondense to CMRRR and keep paper trail just in case (no pun intended) his request fall on deaf ears and he decides to file a case against them later he has proof to back his claims.

If the account is not closed/written off I still think a simple telephone call will fix this situation. The previous mortgage holder will no doubt understand the account has been sold/transferred and should be willing to update their records. No animosity justincase, just a difference of opinion.:)

Justin and Taj -

You both have some good thought processes going on. It seems to me to just be a difference in Georgia thinking vs Maryland thinking. :p

Washington thinking: Send stuff in the mail. I'm a big believer in CMRRR, but I've been wondering if it's worth 5 bucks each time I send out a GW letter....normal postage seems OK to me...CMRRR is really for potential lawsuits and what not. A GW letter to the old mortage people is what I would do.

rilli mentioned a little bit of lates with Chase, and I think we all agree he shouldn't contact Chase for anything...dont want those to be reported.... ;)
