Short version

I sent DV to Assett on 05/19 - been awaiting response.

Today check my credit and they updated 06/07/2007 - they did state customer disputed account but updated the amount and no response on DV and placed a note through Experian to have me contact them.

Wait the 30 days or go ahead and send out another letter to them?

Was your DV to them within the initial 30 days? if not, they don't have to send you a thing back. Wait, no....you're in TX right? They have to validate it then......

"Placed a note through experian to have you contact them"......? Since when was EX a messenger service??

You are in Texas - forget about Federal laws and read the Texas Finance Code, Chapter 392.

(B) Not later than the 30th day after the date a notice of inaccuracy is received, a third-party debt collector who initiates an investigation shall send a written statement to the individual:

(1) denying the inaccuracy;

(2) admitting the inaccuracy; or

(3) stating that the third-party debt collector has not had sufficient time to complete an investigation of the inaccuracy.

Yes, I am TX

I am not sure why they placed the note to have me contact them - is not going to happen. They have a current address for me, I gave it in the DV sent to them so they can send it in writing.

I will resend out to them and see what happens.

And I just noticed --- 2 of them verified (per CRA) and they are the same account.. so they are both saying they both own it.

hehehe.

Yes back to the topic :)

OK - it is a note on Experian that the OC wants me to contact them. Now, I spoke to them about 3 weeks ago and they had nothing to do with me but referred me to the CA. <sigh> It is a circle, maybe I need that beer and I can drink it, then play spin the bottle to determine who I call.

OC have different rules than CA right? I need to read up on that.

Ok -- here is what it shows on the updated CR

Important Message From Experian

HSBC/RS

7XXXXXXXXXXX....

PLEASE CONTACT CREDIT GRANTOR AT -8002790224-

When I call that #, it goes to Arrow Financial, they are NOT the credit grantor. So Arrow and Asset verified on my report that they own the SAME debt. Under HSBC/RS with the 7XXX account #, it does not show under Arrow but shows under HSBC/RS and also shows charged off $0 balance.

Why would they post it that way and ask me to call or is that an automated response? Does that mean Arrow is reporting for HSBC under their name? I am SO confused.

Asset is listed acct 2XXXX

HSBC/RS is listed acct 7XXXX

No Arrow listed for account 7XXXX

The 800 # gives you an option to ask for a party by name -- so I asked for Jack Lavin (who shows up as their president and chief executive officer) and guess what he answered. He was not a very nice guy - he said he could not help me. I asked him if he could explain why this showed up, he said he would have to have someone call me that he could not explain it. I told him that was not an option but if he could not help me, who could? He gave me the 800 # I had just dialed and told me to ask for the operator (ok been there done that idiot)

Maybe we should all give him a call --

I just got a couple of letter from EXP today regarding some disputes I had in with them and 3 TL came back with the note "Please contact credit grantor at - xxx".....

One with Vanguard financial - medical collection for a Hospital and it's not the hospitals number

Two with Credit Coll/USA - medical collections for a dentist and a doctor, not their numbers either

What I don't understand is how they can refer to themselves as the credit grantor
