77nation
I'm in the process of trying to settle a judgment. This is no longer on my credit report but it is within the SOL. When I pay them (or agree to a settlement) does the debt just stay off my report or magically reappear? Assuming the latter, what do I request they do - would it still be a request that the account be reported as Paid As Agreed?

"no longer on your report"...I take it the judgement was once on your report....then it fell off or something? If it's not on there but was at tone time...what changed? I suppose you could do a PFD on this...but I'm not sure.
77nation
Yes, this had been on my credit report but apparently fell off. I actually had completely forgotten about it - it hasn't shown up on my report for at least a few years. However they DO have a judgment and I know that bad things happen to people who don't pay judgments (it's definitely within my state's SOL).To the best of my knowledge it still isn't on my report but the nice folks at Credigy are coming at me for the money. That's why I'm wondering if this will pop up on my credit report again and if so, how should I request it be removed after I pay? My credit report is great right now but I have a feeling it will need repairing by the time I'm done with this!I have spoken with someone there (hangs head in shame) and now have a letter suggesting settlement (no amount suggested) and giving me 45 days before they freeze me. Would rather not be frozen.

77nation
Thanks for the info. I did figure it came off the report due to the age of the judgment. I'm still wondering if there's a way I can keep this from thoroughly torpedoing my credit.
