How do they find you?

Hello all! Its' been a while. Didn't know what forum to post in, so sorry if wrong one. Anyway, been laying low from the goon squads after me, moved to different part of state(400 miles away), right after I was hit with my first garnishment.

Well, I have been applying for employment(am very skilled, good work history), make it through the interview-but then get rejection letter.

Now, I know it could be from any reason, however, most job apps. make you sign a release so they can do background check including a CREDIT REPORT. Now I know that the laws says that an employer can not make base hiring on credit alone...but I'm a little concern as finding jobs(management and marketing fields-no jobs that include handling money), previously have not been a problem. How common now is it for them to use credit for employment screening?

Also, went to interview for State job and somehow conversation got off topic and was told that they had program that traced "deadbeats" because every employer that hired anyone had to report it by law to the state worrkforce department. Which means that anyone with access to this program can tracked down workers in the state for wage garnishment. Does any one out there know of this program, and how can I avoid it? Thanks!

In Iowa, they use this "who works where" program to trace deadbeat parents who owe child support. I guess it wouldn't surprise me to find that they also sell the data to CA/JDB and the like...

This is pursuant to Federal Law which requires all employers to notify the State Child Support Enforcement agency of all employees as they are hired.

It would be illegal to supply this information to any private party.

If they reject you based on your credit report, the FCRA requires that they send you a notice stating that they relied on your credit report.

Thanks for info! Will check CR. Has anyone ever gotten a good job with not so good credit,i.e. judgements, lates, etc...? Even if you are declined for bad credit-which I am almost sure they will find another reason, does anyone know of a legal case regarding this issue. It would seem to me that hiring based on credit(except jobs that handle money), would have some Constitutional issues.

For example, 2 applicants equally qualified, one has BK or bad credit due to ex., etc. The one with good credit gets the job and 2 months later files BK. Do they fire her for the same reason for not hiring the other? If a company who uses good credit as a hiring standard does the comypany have the legal obligation to do random crdeit checks like drug testing? Is there really a measurement that proves good credit makes better employees-cause I personally can disprove this one with real live people.

Also, does the company's interest in a NON financial position outweigh the individuals right to privacy?
