It really is hard to understand what makes people behave this way. I think those of us who carry handguns in our cars would agree that these guys would be dead now if they chose the wrong car.

A debt collector, trying to repossess a 2000 Ford Focus, tried to yank a young mother out of her car so violently that he ripped off her necklace and punched her in the face, a prosecutor said today in court.

While the woman's 5-year-old daughter watched in horror Friday, another debt collector jumped on the hood like a “madman,” said Brendan Barnes, a prosecutor for the Plymouth County district attorney's office.

Afraid she was being carjacked, Sara Bradley, 25, drove to the Abington Police Department with the man clinging to her hood while his partner followed in another car. The two debt collectors from South Shore Auto Recovery -- Robert Simeone, 21, and his brother, Michael, 17 -- were arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

"This appears to be two young men in the repo business going above and beyond the call of duty," said Barnes at the brothers' arraignment today in Brockton District Court.

Aurelie M. Couturier, the Simeone brothers' defense attorney, told a much different story. Bradley drove over Michael Simeone’s foot and then used her car to ram Robert Simeone, which is how he ended up on the hood. Bradley had fallen behind on her payments for the Ford and the men were trying to repossess the car on behalf of Crown Auto Sales, Couturier said.

The men pleaded not guilty today to the assault and battery charges and plan "to fight this case ... all the way to jury trial," Couturier said.

They were ordered held on $10,000 cash bail and are scheduled to appear again in court June 21.

I would not call those two idiots "repo" men. I'd call um idiots trying to recover a car. With 5+ years of experiance repo'n cars from people who most repo agents would pass on (thugs, gang bangers and the such) the LAST thing you want to do is confront someone IN the car. Even if they don't have a gun, they have the car, and that's worse than a gun in my book. Most states have laws that prevent a repo if it disrupts the peace. If she was there, and started yelling, the peace is disrupted and it's time to stop and leave her be for another time.

I found more creative ways to repo. I loved to just follow them to work. It was by far the best place for me to repo. You know they are going to be there a while (8 hours or more :) ) and if they did see you out in the parking lot hooking up it was less likely they would cause a stink because then all their co-workers would know what was really going on. Otherplaces I'd grab um where at the mall, the grocery store. Heck, I grabbed a few at the gas station while they where paying for gas.

And there IS a tv show already. I think it's on spike called "repo men" :D

They're lucky it wasn't in Louisiana. Its legal to carry a gun in your car concelled without a permit. They consider it an extension of your home and you do have the right to protect your car at all cost! At least that was the law when I lived there. Not to many car jackings!
