Macwench
This sucks - not the denial but the letter - okay the denial too, but I applied for Marathon gas card - was doing okay and wanted something for emergencies so I decided to try. Here was the letter:We appreciate your recent application for a Marathon CC. We are sorry that we cannot issue a credit card to you on the terms you originally requested. (I filled out standard application). If you would like a statement of specific reasons why your application was denied, please contact our application processing area in writing at the address shown above within 60 days of the date of this letter. We will provide you with the statement of reasons within 30 days after receiving your request. Blah blah standard verbiage with Equifax as CRA used. Can't believe they can't just put the reason in the letter. What chumps. Really wanted a gas card though. gypsie
I've never heard of that before...I thought it was required to put the reasons in the denial letter... weirdand yes, that does suck.
ctfudge&bankofC-ville
That is a frustrating letter. Sorry you didn't get that card. I understand that's a great card and I wish we had Marathons around here.It seems especially frustrating when a gas company won't give you credit for a few fill-ups. I know - we've both felt the rejection around here.

elyse449
I'm sorry, but don't give up! And it may be nice to know what it is they're holding against you. In my recent denial letter from GEMB (Walmart) I was told I had "too many collections, too many new accounts." I was glad they told me actually. I was also glad I wasn't given an INSTANT denial online, lol! Keep up the good work and don't give up. Remember to research the card your applying for BEFORE you apply so you know who they'll pull and what avg FICO they're looking for. Than, make sure you check YOUR credit/FICO before you apply and see if everything looks ok....than you can decide if you're ready to apply. It was not following those guidelines that earned me my recent denial. Than again, sometimes even when we DO cover all those basis we STILL get denied for oddball reasons! Just keep at it.Elyse
Macwench
I've gotten a collection going the last 2 months - I had a first premier that I'm getting ready to dump athen got Orchard, Seamiles, CCCU, and Creditone (which will be the next to go) - just got approved for Hooters too (DH kept pushing for that one!!).I'm sure it will be too many inquiries or new accounts... FICO was where it needed to be, I had checked on CB's credit pull database... I probably just got a little trigger-happy. I need to let some of these accounts age a few months. Letter just irritated me - never got one that didn't give the reason. And as far as GEMB - they hate me. Very BK unfriendly in my case. I've learned not to even try with them. Thanks for the words of support!!

Maybe I won't bother w/ them either, who knows. Anything can happen in a year's time! And you're welcome for the words of support! CleverCynic
Pssht..Walmart could afford to give every man, woman, and child a $75 limit card and have them all default simultaneously and not miss a beat...heck I musta got that much merchandise over a year from things "not in system" during self-checkout...
