douglashicks
My credit is horrible...ugly. Ive been reading these boards for awhile, and, Ive been trying to fix my credit one step at a time. I figured Id start with some smaller accounts, to get the ball rolling. I intended to negotiate getting the accounts deleted, if I paid in full. I got a letter in the mail for an account from June 2004. Its for 150$, and Im ready to pay this amount now if I can get it deleted. I realize I need to get it in writing before any money changes hands. ANYWAYS, I called (I know, I know, never call) the people who have the debt right now. They said they havent reported it to the bureaus yet. So, if I pay today, they wont report it, and they'll tell the agency they bought it from, that the account is paid. What does one do in situations like this where the debt has been passed of from one agency to the next...? Is getting it deleted really going to do much good? The OC and the first CA are still going to show as derogatory...correct?
Southerngirl
It is my understanding that when a CA sells a debt to another CA you can dispute the first entry with the CB and it SHOULD fall off. It sounds like the 2nd CA will not report so I would get this in writing, also you can dispute the OC entry with the CB and it should fall off. They shouldn't be reporting if they sold to a CA so it should all come off easily.

If the original creditor sell your account, they can keep their tradeline if it is reported correctly. It should say transfered/sold with a zero balance. They can keep it as a derogatory mark with the charged off status.
