isislc
I'm at my wits end, I can't seem to get a damn credit card anywhere other than First Premier and Crown Jewelers. Anyone got any ideas? I've been turned down for the Target red card, WAMU and Hooters. Not sure if I'm blacklisted with Cap1 and Orchard. Anyone got any ideas? They all seem to keep pulling TU and that's my worst one. Only good thing out of it is that I can eventually bump those inquiries.
dallas01
What are your Fico Scores? It also depends on what baddies you have on your CR. Do you have Judgements, Bankruptcy, etc.
isislc
Ficos run between 550-570 and I have 3 judgments that have been disputed and should be falling off soon since they really aren't mine. It just seems like forever and I'm hoping that this gives me a good boost in scores.
Amerikaner83
Yeah once the judgements get deleted (how sure are you they will? just because they aren't yours doesn't really mean that they will magically fall off) it should help you a lot. Don't worry. Perhaps you could spare some $$ for a secured card? As long as a bank doesn't report it as a secured card, that should help you as well with a good positive TL. CleverCynic
Is First Premier secured? Was it pre-approved?I'm looking for a card for my wife with terrible credit. Not sure what to try.
isislc
The judgments being vacated is already a done deal, just waiting on the paperwork to come back from the judge. I applied for a BoA card and was denied but the online rep said to call and see about getting it reevaluated so I went for the secured card instead and got it, won't hurt me any to have both if they reconsider and I get the unsecured card. I did apply for the First Premier card and got it unsecured along with a 9% rate on all purchases. There are a lot of fees to start but if you can get them down and pay the card up before any interest fees acrue, I think it's worth it if you have real bad credit. Once the judgments come off I'm hoping to get a good jump on my score. Then I should be able to get better cards. At which point I can dump the high fee cards. Longshot
If you can swing it, try and get a secured card with your bank or credit union. Go for at least a $500 or $1000 balance. Make payments on time for about 6 months to a year and that will help you out alot.
CleverCynic
I think the general advice around here is if you're willing to do a $1000 secured, you should try with BofA or CITI so it's with a premium bank first.
isislc
That's the plan so far, sending them $1000 on payday for the secured card. Works better anyways, I can save money and keep a card at the same time. With luck, won't take me long to graduate to an unsecured card. Thanks guys
Longshot
Good luck. Just make sure to use the card and then make your payments ontime for the next 6months to a year. That in itself will help your credit score alot.
