imdoingitright
My dh and I will be car shopping in Sept and will use both our credit. He has great credit. 33 positive tl's and no baddies, no lates, nothing negative ever. My credit is good, I guess:confused: I have no baddies of any kind. My problem is that I only have 4 tl's and my credit history goes back to 2001 on a sl and 2005 on my 1st credit card I also just added 2 new cc, target and kay jeweler. Both cards will only be 2 months old when we start to car shop. Is there anything I need to do, should do or can do by sept so that with both our credits combined we can get a great interest rate? Will the new cc hurt me when we start to shop? Should I try for a major cc? I'm nervous about appling for more cc.My scores are TU 717 (as 7/4/07) 2 inq from 2007 (doing *b*)Exp 710 (as of 7/3/07) 9 inq all in dispute (estimated completion 7/24)Eq 673 (as of 7/5/07) - 1 pd collection - 0 inq's
CleverCynic
No more credit, and pay all balances down under 30% of credit limit if possible. Don't have anything maxed out when you apply.

imdoingitright
Those scores should do you just fine.I'm expecting them to go down some sense Target has not reported yet. Funny cause i kept reading that when you get new cc that your score takes a hit. The opposite happened with me. My eq went up 10 points when kay hit my cr......go figure. TU and Ex went down about 5 points each then right back up evern higher when the inqs started to come off. 13 with tu and 3 with exp.
chilton1
I dont think you will have a problem getting a very goo d interest rate.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you do have one baddie on your report one paid collection on equifax. You can try a goodwill letter to get that remove; your score will go up significantly when that is removed. lhslancers
No problems with those scores. Do yourself and you DH a favor and join Penfed. They can beat the rate the dealer is looking to stick you with and you will only get one inquiry. How in Haites are you getting inquiries off of your Experian reports? Pentagon Federal Credit Union. I've tried 2 gw ltrs and none of them worked. I sent a MOV ltr to eq 2 weeks ago, waiting on the results of that.

If not you could threaten to sue on Violations then they may delete since they have nothing to gain.
imdoingitright
Is it from a CA? DId they mark the account in dispute? If not you could threaten to sue on Violations then they may delete since they have nothing to gain. When I gw'ed no the account wasn't marked "in dispute". I requested a MOV on 6/18/07 the account currently says "consumer disputes, re-investigation in process". This is the 3rd dispute on this account. The 1st time I disputed because it said "unpaid" but I had paid it, I disputed with documents, still came back "unpaid". I paid the oc not the ca, so the ca didn't know I paid the oc. I went back and forth with eq on this, finally eq called the ca, they called the oc, the oc said it was paid, the ca informed eq, they changed it from unpaid to paid collection. After this I sent an MOV, that is where I am right now.
cajunbulldog
The only thing I would add is to pick your financing and bring proof of it when shopping so you don't get hammered by dealer's shipping your report to everyone. We did this with my wife thru our bank.Got the manager to type up a guarantee letter and told dealer's her report was completely off-limits to them. cajunbulldog
I am uncertain of your situation. My wife and I are very longterm customers of our small hometown bank who's rates meet or beat most competitors. For my wife's truck we simply showed dealer a guarantee letter after we had neg for the lowest price. The reason I secure financing beforehand is so the dealers won't shop your report out to a slew of lenders. You end up with a mountain of inquiries when they do that. For Fico it would count as one,but any lender reviewing you to grant credit may decide to deny you due to excessive inqs.Transunion and Equifax can be bumped, but you would be stuck with Experian ings. PolarBearnCO
I'm not sure what you are getting at with telling the dealer the report is off limits to them. Simply don't run the credit. Tell them you are not interested in their financing. Simple. When I bought a car in October, I was using the Blank Check financing from Capital One. I was a CASH BUYER. I told them I didn't give a hoot about their financing, and they never bothered me about it.
