Crapital One 30 day Late / Points

Recommended Posts

I know you guys are sick of me complaining about this crap one 30 day late from 1/03 that they just won't budge on.

New scenario: I sent some dispute letters to ex and eq. This time in writing just on white paper. Reason stated: never late.

Now here is the question if it comes back again verified, 70% chance it will, if I dispute it again in writing and use "not mine" as a reason, possibly get it del will it hurt my score? If so by how much?

The account is closed since 2/03 and was opened 3/01

I have three other cap one accts in good standing and a few other positive tl's

I hope this does not sound confusing if so please ask quests. This is my last baddie

Well, maybe you can tell us...

Why do you call them Crap1? Did they Crap on you? This company gave you credit and did no wrong to you that you didn't agree to previously accepting the credit line.

Why do you care so much about a 30-day late from almost five years ago? Yeah, I'm guessing that if you delete a 2-yr history with only one negative, a 30-day late from five years, you'll do more damage than good.

Why do you care so much about your score that you'll go so far as to get something from five years ago deleted? We aren't talking about much here... maybe a handful of points. General rule of thumb I've come up with while meddling around here... "if you are really concerned about a few silly points, your CRs are probably trashed to a point that only time will fix them anyway." It's a few points, and the points are arbitrary anyway.

NO ONE, NO ONE, NO ONE is going to deny you credit based on a single five-year old 30-day late. If you get denied for credit, it's because of something else.

So what are you scores, anyway? I'm guessing you're in the 7s if this is your only baddie.

I just call them that b/c everyone else here does. And yes they did crap on me.

I had 4 accts with them I sent a payment that got applied to another account resulting in the late on this one. I explained this to them. They acted sympathetic and understanding but I always get these non-personal "we're sorry but" letters. I cancelled that acct. out of anger.

It is the last baddie, it is annoying and yes my scores are all low 7's fico. However, if this new in writing ;) dispute thing works as rumored I just want to know what affect it will have on my score if I get it removed. I have approx. 6 cc tl's all are at least 2yrs. old no lates. Student loans paid off never late. Three existing mortgages never late. Car loan paid off 6mos. early never late. I want to get all my scores 750+

Do you still have a copy of the check that shows which account # you wrote in the memo line? If you can show that a particular check was supposed to be posted to the account # you wrote in the memo line and they posted it to a different account, then I'd think you have an open/shut court case and you should sue for damages, if you can prove any.

"...please tell me why I haven't gotten any suggestions for this..."

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for. There is no magic method or special letter that gets things removed. There are only techniques with varying degrees of success. They are found in the stickies and by searching here and elsewhere on the net. Credit repair is a process.

"...I just want to know what affect it will have on my scores if I get it removed..."

The only way you'll get an accurate answer to that is to obtain a score, then actually get the TL removed, and obtain another score. Scoring programs are proprietary and extremely complex. All anyone can do is refer you to emphirical evidence, which may or may not match your situation.

If you have evidence, you can sue Crap One for violation of existing laws. I'm not sure which ones pertain here, as there was an error in the posting. But you need to focus on your goal. As Polar alluded, getting the TL deleted may cause a drop in your score due to the loss of History. No one can say for sure. But if you follow through and are successful, please post your experience.

I'd bet money that the mistake is his own and either he didn't put the correct account number on the memo line of the check (as every credit card statement tells us to do) or he sent the wrong statement stub.

I just can't imagine that Cap 1, given a good account number, would open your envelope, take your check, ignore the stub and account number, spend the time to look up your accounts via name and address, and randomly choose one. (It's probably done by machine anyway.) Sorry, just being honest, but feel free to ignore me. I'm a government employee, and my job depends on me not trusting those around me... lol. They (at least the management) are all scheisters.
