Nascar3
TransunionAcct# XXXXCondition:Closed/paidBalance:0Type: Credit cardPay status: Collection/chargeoff-settlement accepted on this acctEquifaxAcct# TTTT (completely different acct number than TU)Condition: DerogatoryBalance: 0Type: UnknownPay ststus: Settlement accepted on this acct/charged off as bad debtThen at the bottom of the listing TU has it blank, but Equifax is still showing 2 120 day lates. Can they do that??I called Providian today to see what I could find out about the two differing account numbers on my report. She told me she could find no record of an account with my. Then I questioned her about it still showing 2 120 day lates. She told me yes they CAN do that. I thought since it was "settled" then they should be removed. Am I wrong in my thinking? Also, I have disputed this account with both TU and EQ, but I'm betting they come back verified. If they do, what is my next step since the lady on the phone said they have no records? I know I've read it on here somewhere, but can't seem to find it right now. TSorad
I'm not an expert but I believe that settling the account has no affect on the lates.I had luck disputing an account with Providian, but that was before they were bought not sure how it is now. I would get the name of the lady you spoke with and her number and use that in your dispute. Equifax will call them if you tell them you are trying to get a loan. Nascar3
OK, I hear ya. Just to me it looks like they are STILL 120 days late. But what do I do now as far as getting it removed as I should be able to if Providian has no record of me! Right?
chilton1
OK, I hear ya. Just to me it looks like they are STILL 120 days late. But what do I do now as far as getting it removed as I should be able to if Providian has no record of me! Right? You can try using a version of the letter "dispute with the original creditor" link on top. I wrote a simple form of that letter only about 10 lines and requested they send me proof of the account since they verified with the CRA. I sent the letter to Providian. I had an account that like yours was also sold but was being report late every month for five years.Well it took them 6 weeks from the date of the signed green ticket for the account to be deleted. Since you know that they have no records give it a try.Oh wait!! If you only spoke with the CSR that does not mean they have no records. They may have removed the account to the collections department and that department maybe able to find your sins. You have nothing to lose at this point, so give it a try. Let me know if it works.PM me if you want a copy of my letter.
merkurfan
To date I have sent providian 3 dispute with OC letters. None have been anwsered. They did make changes to my EX but never replied to me with the things I requested (I don't think the account is mine!). I'm giving um a few more weeks then off to court we go. TSorad
Also wanted to add, when I said disputed with providian I meant disputed with the cra agency and got deleted from all 3. Was a $2200 cc and has been deleted for years now. I'm pretty sure providian didn't respond so it was deleted. Hopefully I never hear from them again. Wait till you hear back from all 3 cra, I wouldn't send providian anything as it could wake them up, but it is paid. Kind of tricky to me.Keep disputing with the cra, different reasons. For my disputes, I don't want the oc to respond, so then it gets deleted.

TSorad
I read that he/she disputed but has not gotten the results back from the CRA. My point was that if you dispute and it gets deleted then the job is completed. No point in calling/sending providian letters if it is just going to delete, you never know they might update or something after the TL is deleted.Just a worse case imo. Nascar3
Thanks for the advice guys. I am going to wait and see how the dispute with the credit bureau turns out. Hopefully it will disappear.
