zaptero
Hi All! My first time posting and just wanted to tell everyone that this site is very informative as well as giving me hope to improve my scores and delete negative items on my report. My latest FICO scores as of 7/15/2007 are:TU: 602 EX: 624 EQU:601How should I go about getting this CO removed? Should I contact Experian and Equifax? Or should I contact AMEX and write a GoodWill letter? See belowI have the following on my 3 in 1 that I pulled from TransUnion:Transunion is blank, but Experian and Equifax on my 3-1 show the following:AMEX:ExperianAcct #: ******Condition: Closed (Paid)Balance: $0Type: Credit CardPay Status: Collection/ChargeoffOpened: 03/2002Reported: 11/04/2004EquifaxAcct#: (Has the same acct # but it has a minus sign before the number, does this play on my favor)Condition: Closed (Paid)Balance: $0Type: CollectionPay Status: 120 daysOpened: 03/2002Reported: 12/2005What should be the first few steps in getting this CO removed? Thanks in advance to all.
savymicheal
Nothing this a paid chargeoff there is no oustanding balance!!! People worry to much about deletions but remember that unpaid chargeoff is worst than a paid so forget about this and wait for this to drop off. This isnt hurting your score as much anymore as you think, the damage is always the first 18 months after that scores steadily begins to raise. cajunbulldog
It looks to be reporting correctly imho. Maybe you could call Amex and ask them if there is a program you could use to get a Amex account and forgive the negative reporting.

It has happened, though deletion of the negative is quite rare. They do forgive people who pay off old chargeoffs and remove them from their blacklists. zaptero
Will call Amex and see if they are willing to remove CO. If not willing over the phone, then I'll write them a letter. Should I even bother with Experian and Equifax?

zaptero
I believe deregotary is worse than Charge off/Paid. Because at least on the charge off/paid, it shows that you paid the account, but deregotary seems like it is still in collections. Did you pay collections? What I have done so far is submitted a dispute online to Experian, just in case it disappears, but got the response that it will remain. Now waiting to hear back from Equifax. But it does not show up in Transunion. If it remains on EQ, then I will write a goodwill letter to AMEX.. hey, you never know.
