it might not be the people who contacted you but they are likely the same type of company

an "asset investigation" is just that basically an investigation into your assets, in many cases done by a 3rd party (usually a private investigator, CPA, or lawyer) hired to help a CA or OC get the money you owe them, this is more often used after there has been a judgment against you but not always

I'm just thinking outloud. Why would anyone tell someone else yes I have two cars, a $200,000 house, 5 flat screen tv's, etc? Seems kinda odd to just tell some stranger that information only for them to report it back to the CA.

you would be suprised what people will willingly tell someone, they dont just ask you though, they can find out how much you make, where you work and how many cars you have without asking you

I'm not directing this to you ... but if they can find out all that information out, without asking you...why are they calling? Hoping to make their job easier I guess.

That's what the message said. We have a couple Credit Card debts that nothing has been paid on since dec 2003. Haven't seen any type of judgement. And based on what I found SOL is 3 years in NC. I assumed it is someone tring to scare us into payingright away.
