nihil
So I'm being sued by Eskanos & Adler for $8000 owed to wells fargo. This is in the Superior court of CA county of Los Angeles limited civil jurisdiction. I got my summons and filed an answer now my first court date is coming up. The debt is mine and its not out of SOL so I'm really just trying to buy some time until I can file BK. Does anyone know what I will have to do on this first court appearance? I assume that this isn't going to be the real trial just some preliminary thing.

swtguy
If you're going to include it in BK, why does it matter?
nihil
It will be at least a year before I'm able to file BK I'd rather not have a judgment and possible garnishment on me until then.

IHateCAs
Any particular reason it would take you a year?
nihil
This is probably going to sound weird but... I own a house that has a lot of equity. I've been monitoring the house on zillow for the last several months. Their estimate has been dropping about 10k per month. I figure if it continues at this rate I will have 0 unexempt equity in about a year. I'm crossing my fingers hoping this housing bubble collapse will be fast and brutal.
