whocares
I have had this Orchard secured card for 4 years, never late, they still had my deposit...500.00...anyway I never recieved a new card at the beginning of the year, I was charged the annual fee and my interest rates shot up as it put me over my limit...so I was frustrated, I have called several times about the card and they kept saying they were sending one...I never recieved it.Well today I decided I would just cancel the card as I cannot use it anyway and just pay them off to get my deposit back. I know I needed the positive no lates tradeline and so I told them I was going to cancel.I got transferred to a supervisor who not only is going to send me a card, he is waiving all fees incurred since I did not get the card...I have not charged anything since December, I also told him I was cancelling becuase of the interest rates and HSBC gave me a new card. He said the rates would be adjusted as well and credited back to me. Then I told him I wanted to know why the card was still secured and he said he could unsecure it for me,,,so I'll be getting my 500.00 back as well...All in all, I got my deposit back 500.00, I got over 200.00 in fees returned and my interest rate lowered...I will owe about 150 when all is said and done and now I am happy again...I did not ask about Increasing my limit...I'm happy for now. PolarBearnCO
With all respect, if you have had the card for 4 years, you should have known when they were going to charge the monthly fee. If you didn't you could look at past statements. If you didn't have them, you could have called and asked. You should have paid off the card enough to allow room for the annual fee you would KNOW is to be charged. You failed to do that. Plus, you mentioned you didn't receive the card. Does that matter? You still need to pay the bill, since you had a previous balance. This was your mess up. You got lucky that they're going to fix it.I'll congratulate you if you learned a lesson here. This can happen with ANY card.
whocares
And the renewal was not due till febuary, they just never sent it, and when I called they said they would not charge it till the card was activated...they charged it anyway...thats why they had to fix it...The new card came today and I did verify it is now unsecured as well... meamea521
Hello, I hope you recieve your $500.00. Because if not, the supervisor did not tell you that Intermountain Community Bank has the deposit not Orchard Bank.Intermountain bank number is 1-800-288-2188. You have to call them to get your money back, then send them a letter to prove it is you and a peace mail

newbie7069
Not trying to start an arguement, but I think we should all try to stay away from passing quick judgements on other posters without all of the facts in hand. This poster was not in any way even asking a question, just passing on information & sharing their excitement over something positive that happened.OP- Congrats! (Hehehe---I almost said congrats on your happy ending, but I knew where you load of bozos would go with that one )

PolarBearnCO
Yeah, you should legally be obligated to receive interest earned on your deposit, though I don't think they have to pay you much... 1/4 of a percent won't buy you a Starbucks Frappuccino.
