rmuse00
Welcome! You can and should do both. It's what we call the 1-2 punch. Dispute with the CRA and with the collection agency. If the CA does not validate with you but verifies with the CRA's they are in violation. Go to the posts under "while in debt validation" and read, read, read. Read up on the FDCPA and FCRA. These documents outline our consumer rights in dealing with how debts are collected and our rights in terms of how debts are reported. The links to both documents can be found at the top of the forum. There is also more info here: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation.shtml and http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showthread.php?t=262951If you do a search for Medical you will also find lots more posts on medical collections and what other members have experienced. There is a wealth of info there. Happy reading and good luck.
