OK, I am being threaten by an auto insurance company to send me to collecions. I do not think I owe them money. I have never filed a claim with them and went with a new insurance company before the old one was up. So I requested the Florida Consumer Protection agency to look into it and I was sent an email stating:

This is in response to the e-mail you sent to our Department regarding the premium bill you received from Insurance Company A.

If Insurance Company A states that you owe an additional premium prior to the cancellation date, our Department will be happy to open a file and contact Insurance Company A to find out why they are showing a balance due on your account. However, before we can pursue this issue, we need your policy number with Insurance Company A, the date your policy became effective with Insurance Comapny B, and your telephone number. If you financed your premium, we will also need a copy of the premium finance contract or the name of the premium finance company.

If you should have any further questions, please contact our toll-free Consumer Helpline at 1-800-324-2762, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and an insurance specialist will be happy to assist you. You can also call me direct at the telephone number listed below.

Question is it has not gone into collections yet, should I keep this and use it in case it does?
