I guess I still don't completely understand what the FA does. I have applied for a Target card (which was denied but I haven't got the letter yet) and a Hooters card. I am still waiting to hear about that one. There are two inquiries on my report. That means they were able to pull it right???

I called Target to ask about my application. The man told me a letter was sent out but I had to pry him a bit to tell me whether or not it was approved. He seemed like he didn't want to tell me. He told me it was denied. Is it possible that it wasn't really denied and that the letter is just asking for more information.

Also, I opened a Crown Jewelers account. Are they going to be able to report it without a problem? Another board member said that he made a payment right after he opened it and they reported it right away. There is still nothing showing in my report and they have not contacted me.

aadam101,

You have the "EXTENDED" fraud alert - they usually require a police report to initiate unless someone processed something in error.

The "INITIAL" fraud alert is for 90 days.

You have have the alert removed you'll need to follow each CRA's criteria for doing so,

Also if I were you I'd be curious about how it was placed, unless as I said you provided a police report or an affidavit of identity theft, etc.

Keep us posted & GL.

I haven't sent a single thing to any CRA, OC or CA. I have done all of my disputing online thus far. I just wrote some letters this week but did not mail them yet. They now have to be changed since I have had so many updates.

I received an ID theft affidavit from First Premier and that is all. I did not send it back and I am not going to. I did not fill out a police report.

I think I may just leave it for now since someone else on this board thinks an FA may keep CA's from buying debts. I certainly don't think I will want it on there for 7 years though.

This isn't a case of fraud. This is a case of a stupid kid not knowing how to manage his money. I am older now and I am trying to fix my mistakes.

I have learned so much from the people on this site. I was very intimidated by it at first and didn't want to deal with it. I have since spent so many hours reading this site and have gained so much knowledge I am not helping some friends fix their credit as well. I wish credit counselors weren't so slimy. I would totally become one! lol
