monro411
I am new to this forum but not to rebuilding my credit. A few months ago I pulled my credit report and seen that there was a collections account on it. I decided to try to get them to delete the account if I paid it. They were pretty nasty in telling me I had to pay the whole thing or nothing. So I let the account lay thinking that I will let it age off. I pulled my report again last month and seen that they had put another account on my report. WTF I immediately disputed the account. When the dispute came back, I seen the old account was deleted, but the new account remained. It looks like I have a new CA account from 7/2007. The date it is supposed to drop off changed from 2008 to 2014. Is this legal reaging? What should I do?

bigjohnstud4200
You are not referring to "reported date" are you? How are you determining when it should fall off? From what you wrote, sounds like re-aging to me.
monro411
On Experian it has the date of which the account will fall off. It changed from the old to the new. I guess from my readings to send a dispute letter on the new account disputing the date in question. Or should I contact the CA. What should I do first is the question? Trailrider
I'm having the same problem w/ASSet on experian. My sept. 2006 credit report states drop-off dates on two ASSet alleged debts of 6/08 and 8/08. I dv'd ASSet twice now and disputed once w/experian, only to now have those alleged debts reported by EX as 12/10 and 2/09 to drop off. I'm now getting ready to complain to AG of Texas and Mich, as well as the BBB and FTC, and if they do not delete, I'm going to SUE their ASSet! Here is the latest dispute letter I wrote to EX, to coincide with the delivery of the second dv to ASSet:July 31, 2007EXPERIANNCACPO Box 9701Allen, TX 75013RE: Report Nos: XXXX, dated 6/07; XXXX, dated 6/07; XXXX, dated 12/06; and XXXX, dated 9/06To Whom it May Concern:I am TrailriderSSN: XXXMy AddressAnywhere, TX XXXXX(Current address for last 1.5 years)DOB: N/AI've just reviewed my Experian credit reports and have found that there are several false and inaccurate items still being reported by Experian which I dispute:Asset Acceptance LLC Account # XXXX…This account is listed as being an installment account with monthly payments due. This account is being updated monthly to reflect past due status. And this account has been illegally re-aged to keep it on my credit report as long as possible in an attempt to extort money from me. This account is not mine. I have never had an installment account with Asset Acceptance, nor do they have an installment contract which I have signed, proving that I owe them this alleged debt. I have twice now sent letters to Asset Acceptance asking for proof that this account is indeed mine, and to prove that I legally owe them this alleged debt, but they have provided no real validation of the debt to me, while continuing to update with Experian in violation of provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I am consulting a consumer rights attorney about Asset Acceptance’s violation of my rights under the FDCPA and Texas state consumer law regarding this alleged debt.Asset Acceptance LLC Account # XXXX….This account is listed as being an installment account with monthly payments due. Asset Acceptance is notorious for their violations of both federal and state consumer laws in their attempts to extort money from any consumer who has the misfortune to come into their sights. Attached are copies of pages of my Experian credit reports with several of these violations highlighted. I am hereby requesting that you delete these false installment accounts from my credit file as I am entitled to an accurate credit file under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Please send me an updated credit report reflecting the deletion of these false installment accounts. Your prompt attention to these corrections is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and efforts.Sincerely,TrailriderI may have to sue EX too....gee, ain't that too bad!
