buckeyechick1219
I've been fighting, trying to get an Asset account for a Citi card that may or may not have been mine removed from my credit reports. I have successfully had it removed from TU and EQ, but it was verified in 2005 on EX and they refuse to reinvestigate it.I filed a report with the BBB back in March, spelling out Assets refusal to provide verification on this account, and Asset sent their standard "We will obtain the verification from the original creditor and forward to you" in May. So around July 10, I send this letter to EX stating "Asset indicates that they do not have verification. Please reinvestigate," and I get the same old "This item has already been verified" letter back. What gives? What's my next step here? Asset has not communicated directly with me since receiving my first DV, only through the BBB, and they have deleted this account from TU and EQ when it was reinvestigated. IHateCAs
EX seems good about not deleting TLs that have been deleted off the other bureaus. That would suggest to me that they aren't really investigating, but deciding that the TL stays of their own accord.Of course, Asset could just be holding onto one TL since they don't want to delete off all 3. Only one way to be sure.
buckeyechick1219
EX won't even reinvestigate it, even with the BBB letter from Asset saying that they didn't have validation.
Nascar3
I'm having the same problem with Experian. I disputed my Portfolio Recovery account (that is COMPLETELY WRONG) and after 20something days they just verified it as accurate. I called Experian today and they refuse to reinvestigate, even after I pointed out to her that Portfolio is obviously a collection agency and they are reporting under installment accounts! They say they need to go with the information they are provided by the CA.
merkurfan
I hate to say it, but EX is a very tough nut to crack. I get the "we won't investigate" on a debt that was last investigated 4 years ago. I keep calling and getting different agents all saying the same thing, till the last one. I was able to smooze her a bit and got a investigation started on a TL that should fall off during investigation (darn company is out of business!) buckeyechick1219
So, do I have any recourse besides threatening (and possibly taking) legal action? I mean, Asset obviously doesn't have anything to support that this is a valid debt. They've ignored every communication from me up to this point. When EQ and TU reinvestigated after my DV, the account was removed, but they seem to have no desire to proactively remove the account. Has anybody filed a complaint on Experian with the BBB or AG? If so, what were the results?
