incognito
So I sent a DV letter to Midland Credit Management (MCM). Listed below is the reply I got from them and just wondering how should I respond.-----------------------------------------------Dear Mr. XXX XXXXThe purpose of this letter is to request your assistance so that we may reach a quick resolution to your dispute. We are attempting to verify your dispute and it would be helpful to have a copy of any documentation you may have that substantiates your dispute. In the interim we have requested that the three major consumer credit reporting agencies change the status of this account to "Disputed".Please email or fax cancelled checks, paid letters, police report to XXXXXXXXConsumer RelationsMidland Credit Management-----------------------------------------------Any suggestion on how should I respond? They are turning the table on me and asking me for documentation substantiating my dispute instead of providing me proof of debt owed. I was thinking of sending a second DV Letter. Thanks
Macwench
Demand verification again, telling them you expect them to provide that type of documentation to you to verify the account and if they cannot, they need to delete what they have reported to all CRAs and not just mark it as disputed since they cannot verify their right to collect the debt.It is not up to you to do their job for them. razr
I guess it depends on what you disputed. For example, if you claim you already paid the debt, then send them proof. If you simply stated that the debt was disputed and you wanted validation, simply ignore them.-r
