elyse449
Hi folks,Ok-whew...I've had a chance to take deep breath and calm down. Here's an issue w/ Orchard I'm having. In June, I applied for and was denied an "Orchard-silver" card. The letter I got indicated that it was due to "having the maximum number of products issued by HSBC..." (FYI-I only had ONE secured cc with them!)Anyway, so I called to ask about this because I wanted to know when I could apply again. The lady was nice and explained that IF I paid up and closed my secured card AND sent in the 19.00 application fee that they would be happy to open the silver, unsecured acct w/ a 300 cl. I was so happy (as I'm sure some of you may recall)...ok, so I did all that and low and behold I get a letter today stating;Dear Elyse,We are writing to you regarding your application for a Orchard Bank Credit account issued by HSBC Bank Nevada, N.A. Unfortunately, we are unable to approve your application due to the following reason(s)): YOU ALREADY HAVE THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ACCOUNTS ALLOWED WITH HSBCGrrr...anyway...at this point I did discover that the AH who was SUPPOSE to close out my account, didn't and that's probably why this confusion. I just e-mailed someone over there stating I wanted to keep the account, forget it and perhaps now that it's 1 yr of age they'd consider making it non-secure and offering a credit limit increase. Given what they've put me through, I hope they'll at least CONSIDER it! Elyse

Bella710
I'm having Orchard issues too!! I applied for ONE card 7/12. Sent in the $19 app fee. Wait. Wait. Wait. Get a letter in the mail stating they need more info, my $19 app fee. I write them & send a copy of the cashed check printout from my bank. Wait. Wait. Wait. Last Friday I get a denial letter from them with my $19 back. The reason? Too many applications, they're only processing the newest one. I'm like WTF, I only applied once. I call and they say two were submitted at the exact same time. They accepted the one w/out the money so I have to send another check. ****ing frustrating. I like my HSBC card.I see...so no having two ORCHARD accounts, got ya! DOY! LOL. We'll see what they say today. At this point, I think I'll wait to apply for more but when I do it'd be directly with HSBC as you have indicated. Thanks.Elyse

It sounds like an honest computer glitch, though and they DID cash your check so now what??? How infuriating. I hope it gets straightened out for you. Up until now, I was truly happy with my Orchard acct and hated to close it out in order to open the other one anyway... By the way, you should've received that BACKwith your denial letter. elyse449
Ok, MAYBE things are fixed...but I don't wanna count my chickens BEFORE they hatch.I called just now and she accepted a check by phone and said it would be held 14 days and to call back on the 21st just to make sure that APP status reads as "approved." Whew...we'll see folks. She said she didn't think ANY secured Orchards go "unsecured" though...I told her that the lady had told me that after a year they can...hmmm....thoughts on this?Elyse

I was on the phone saying how I only applied once and that their computer messed up, so why can't they just use my check for the 2nd application. Then the lady said "well we already sent the check back." So I said "well how about if I just rip it up and you can keep the money and use it for the other application?" So she said "If you ripped it up it would be bad for you." No matter how many times I explained to her that I only applied once, she just kept insisting that I send another $19. I felt like slamming my head against a brick wall! I'm sure I'll have to end up sending the $19 cause I need a positive tradeline like Lindsay Lohan needs rehab. whocares
My HSBC card is unsecured, and now my Orchard is...I wrote a whole thred about it...they report to all 3 bureaus...and I have perfect credit with them. I am going to keep the card, I like the card. And I like I can pay them online, no checks to mail. When I get my 500.00 deposit back, I'm getting a card for hubby, he needs some positive credit too. elyse449
Ok, I got an e-mail that says I'm approved but that they'll need to hold it for 14 days until the check clears with my bank AND theirs and than they'll send my unsecured card. We'll see....I'm still calling on Aug. 21st to check.Elyse
