I'd like to know also. I have a ton of creditors that come up as "Paid, Closed/Collection account" or "Paid, Closed/Current, was past due 120 days" but I'm pretty sure those stay on there for seven years. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I'm guessing it stays on there because it is your history of credit regardless. It is coming up as paid so that creditor isn't reporting inaccurate information. I'd say you'd just have to wait it out till 10/2010 which i noticed is less than seven years.

Thats what I read on a sticky'd thread but what if that wasn't the agreement? If I dispute that, don't I need some sort of proof? And if i dispute the same thing for the ones that are charged off but purchased, wouldnt that not make any sense? If they charged it off, how would an agreement be made? You see what I'm getting at? Also, i've read not to dispute things over the via the internet. WoOuldnt i need proof to back up the agreement?

You're putting too much thought into it. If you haven't disputed the particular TL before, you can dispute with whatever you want and they will investigate for that reason. In this case, it would be better to dispute this way so that if the DF doesn't verify it gets deleted. CRA's hate to see deletions so if you dispute as "paid" and the DF doesn't respond they MAY just update it to paid since it's still a negative.

I've never disputed anything before. The only thing I've actually done with my credit report is find the amount of debt, past due, and negative things on there and pay stuff off with any balances which are now still negative because they were all from CA's and the OC's all sold the charged off accounts. I've gotten on my fiances CC's and her positive history is now buliding our positive history but I sure wish i knew to ask for a delete when I was paying these CA's off. Is there a thread on how to correctly dispute what I'm talking about? Even with the accounts that say charged off and sold to another lender? I've searched these forums and have tried to find similar scenarios. Any suggestins?

Start with the stickies at the beginning of all the subsections of this forum. There is a wealth of information you will learn.
