what about an OC and a CA ?

I have the OC: bally's reporting last reported back in 2005

and I have the CA: portfolio acquisitions 'a subsidiary of ballys' reporting currently

Can something be done about this and if so what? thanks

Can two different CA's be collecting on the same exact debt at the same time? I've never encountered this before...not sure what steps to take!

It's a possibility. Sometimes a CA will send it to another CA to collect for them if you don't respond to their dunnings. Sometimes they will send it to another partner CA also and I believe they do this in an attempt to poison your credit. LVNV is known for this!

Ok, maybe I should give a little more background. The OC still owns the debt and they had a CA working for them who showed up on my CR's. Now another CA sent me a letter trying to collect on the same debt, but they have not shown up on my CR's.

Luckily, the second CA is not licensed to collect in my state, so I will get rid of them. I just need to know if it's safe to assume that since the debt was handed off the another CA to collect on that the first no longer is trying to collect.

For Carolina, I would recommend seeing if you can still settle with the OC. I've had where it was traded off but was able to get them to pull back the collection and I paid it off. Then I would just dispute the CA from my report as being paid and send them a copy of the receipt. The CA report will come right off.
