WaMU Card Approved!

Recommended Posts

Congrats BJS.

Can you tell us how many if any baddies you have on your reports?

They pulled my worst, EX. I have 7 recent inq's and 9 derogs. 8 of the 9 derogs are unpaid CA's from one company that are dropping off in november of this year. the last baddie is a paid CO from Crap 1, paid off 2003. I ddid get a "pre-selected" offer after recently removing myself from the "do not contact".

I just got that card a month ago and love it. Their site gives you your FICO score and undates it. I think its from the bureau they pulled to approve you. Mine was TU. Also note that they allow you to opt out of the arbitration agreement. Just follow the instructions in small print and mail them a letter in the time specified.

Congrats...again.

Thanks everyone! txsquirrel, first maybe their pull is dependant on what source they use to pre-approve you b/c they pulled a second time after the call and it was EX again. Also, does your name have anything to do with spongebob?? lol

So basically that's what I was wondering....how many of these places overlook baddies with the right scores.

Of course WAMU isn't going to give me anything...cause of the wamu association with providian, but hey...oh well, right?

I got a cap 1 (as you probably know for 2k) just a week or so ago, and I have something like ex 8-TU-6-EQ 9..but then on EQ I have 7 good accounts too.

I had a CO unpaid for Providian, however, Providian didn't have the records when I called them a couple months ago so they got deleted from my CR's and now I have a WaMu. 8-)

BigJohn, what number did you call Providian at about your records with them if you don't mind me asking. I also had a Providian CO(off my reports) but I have Asset reporting(and reaging!) this debt. I would like to have some ammo to get them off.

I called (800) 964-6000, and put in my account number from my CR. It failed to find the account so a rep answered, and I gave my acct# again and my SS#. When she wasn't able to find the account, I had her transfer me to the "collections department" and they were unable to find me. I then disputed both the CA and the OC and they both fell off. If you have already disputed and it's come back verified (after finding out if providian has any records) you have a pretty good chance of getting rid of the CA also, as long as they can't provide any proof.

:goodluck:

mine says wamu/providian

and it was a measly 200 orignally...probably not even that much, but now

it's something like 500. Since..............I wasn't aware of them at that time, we opened checking accounts at wamu about 3 years ago. I am terrified to dispute that one............

I need to find a different bank. We do have had an account with a CU for about 15 years, but it's so far to drive over there.......

Anyway, I am thrilled for ya!

BTW anymore cops at the door??

Don't I know it! As a matter of fact...I haven't been depositing much there lately.

I think sometime soon would be a great time...to go out and hustle up a brand new bank. Would love one really close. The reason originally for wamu anyway, was they were only a couple miles from the house, and because I could use any debit card (meaning my other bank) and not pay a fee at their machines. They changed all that a while back.......so I have no loyalty.

I've been very careful to not keep much there...starting to use the other bank more again...but I hate that trip into town. (Houston)

4K John? That's a line to be proud of from that stingy outfit. Really. Bastids gave me 2K and I'm over 700 legit across the board. If they didn't provide the free PFICO credit card enhanced score I'd close it right quick. Anyways congrats on the approval. Don't call for CLI but use the card and in 6 months they should up your limit. Looks like you are in good with them. This is a lender on the rise. Good job.:D;)

yeah they pulled my experian score also, which was a 662 at the time. one collection, only 9 months of credit history also. received a "pre-approved" offer in the mail, went online and BAM, 6,000 credit line. No balance transfer fee for first month, balance transfer rate 15%. They also gave me 0% on purchase through april 08

For anyone that doesn't know WAMU recently acquired providian, hence their lowered 'standards'. There is a high approval rate on their 'preaproved' mail offers. If your experian score is above 640 i would def. check them out. They don't look at the others, my TU score was 580 at the time.

OP: congrats. You'll love the look of the card when you get it. Mine was see-through!
