Welcome to CIC first of all :p

Read, read, read! This site is full of great advice. Get to know the abbreviations, and the search function. But don't be afraid to ask a question either - chances are some or most of us have been where you are...and know what worked for us.

Specificity is good as well - but we don't need your real name, addy, etc.

Look at the "stickies" in the Credit Repair and Collections forums first. They're a good place to start.

Oh and most importantly: Get recent copies of your credit reports!!!

Read until your eyes bleed and then read some more! :)

Before you attack anything read as much as you can until you can't take anymore and then start forming your plan of attack. Pull your reports from the big three to see what you are facing and use the search feature.

Remember that many people have been where you are and if you have a question.. you will very well most likely find the answer right here, already asked and answered. If there is no answer or you don't understand something.. speak up and we will try to help out.

Most important... DON"T GIVE UP. Keep trying and going for it. In the end... it will pay off :)

I have copies of my credit reports and I have used a template from an online site in order to come up with letters to send out to creditors. Do I also need to contact credit bureaus? Also what do I need to do about companies that have not reported but continue to harrass me and refuse to give an address.

As my friends here have stated, read, read, and read. This site will tell you everything that you need to do from start to finish. I think the best advice I received was the one/two punch, and to utilize the BBB and the AG's offices for assistance with deletions. I got rid of Asset Acceptance by utilizing this method.
