Liora
I made a BIG mistake about 3 years ago. I was in debt over my head.. recently divorced and was considering BK. A family member begged me not to do that and lent me money to pay off some of the debt. I thought I was being smart by making a deal with my creditors for less than the total amount due. Now I realize that I still have Charge offs on my accounts though I paid off much what I owed and that is a really bad thing. Please give me advice on what I should do.. is there anything I can do? hajimon
this is not a wise solution but I tried it and it worked for me. I called the OC on a Charge Off, paid the remainder of the charge off and they took off the charge off and the late payments.might work might notif they agree make sure it is in writing b4 u pay it off. Also, your situation seems like its a candidate to write some goodwill letters.h
Liora
Hi,Thanks so much for your responses. In my case, since the reporting is correct, what would be my main message be in my goodwill letters in these partially paid charge-off situations. - L
creditclimber
Go thru the dispute process outlined on this forum. There's a flow chart somewhere...does anybody have a link?Since they are three years old, there's a good chance some will just come off when you dispute. The rest may take more work, but as old as they are, many of those records will be gone and it won't be worth it to the CA's to verify.
