scottb99
I recently disputed a Chase account listed with all 3 CRA's. It was removed from TU and EX, but remains as under investigation on EQ. The other day I received a letter in the mail from Chase stating:Dear Scottb99:Thank You for your recent inquiry regarding your credit card account. We have received your liability dispute regarding the account noted above. To assist in our investigation, please review this information. If you believe this information is not valid, please complete, sign, and send the Affirmation of Fact document to us at the following address. Upon receipt of this document, an investigator from our Fraud Department will contact you.Fraud Operations1820 E.Sky Harbor Cir S AZ1-5718Phoenix, Az 85034-9701If you agree the account is valid, please complete, sign, and send the Acceptance of Liability document to us at the following address:Consumer Dispute VerificationsPO Box 15298Wilmington, De 19850-5298If we do not receive a response from you, we will conclude our investigation based on the facts we have available to us. The account will continue to report as currently shown at the credit bureaus. If you have any questions or we can be of further assistance, please call us at the toll-free number noted at the top of the first page of this letter. For your convenience, we are available 24 hours a day to assist you. Then enclosed was this Affirmation of Fact and Acceptance of Liability document. Does this sound as if they do not have enough information to prove this is my account? I am thinking if they had the correct info, why would they be sending this? Anyone had anything similar to this happen? I never contacted Chase, only disputed with the 3 CRA's. I think I am going to sign the affidavit saying it is not mine and send it back to them, wonder if this will trigger a fraud alert on my reports? If I do nothing I am assuming they will continue to report it as is.
mtnman1951
I would be careful signing anything like that. Signatures have been known to appear on another document that you did not really sign.
scottb99
I am thinking of signing, scanning, then putting a watermark on it in photoshop and fax it to them to prevent such lifting of signature.
