oompaloompa
From december 06, I've built my credit from no-score to above 600 on EQ, EX and TU. The card I'm referring to was my second card, from Credit one bank. They taxed me with a 75$ startup fee, plus a 6$/monthly fee, a 6$/ pay by debit card fee, and 19% apr. To add insult to injury, the limit is $200. My first card is through BOFA and is now up to $1200 limit, and I just received a $6,000 limit card from providian. Now i'm grateful that they gave me credit when nobody else would, but fact is their card is pitiful compared to my others. (no fees, lower rates 30x limit etc).in light if this, how sucessful do you think I will be if I ask them to drop the fee and increase my limit to at least $1000? More important to me is the fee, and if I close the account after six months, will this affect my credit score? It will be six months in October. razr
CreditOne is a credit builder card, it's no longer helping you much. The age advantage (good for your score) is offset by the low CL (bad for your score). Unless they greatly increase the CL and drop the annual fee, you should just let it go bye-bye.-r
baglady215
It was no-go for me when I asked to drop the annual fee. I did get 2 CLI's of $100 each (about a year apart). Now I'm at $400.
oompaloompa
Well, it makes sense to me, seeing as how my other cards are superior in every way. Thought i'd least see how much luck people had negotiating, I mean, when they repull for the cli, there's a 6,000 credit line sitting there unused...what makes them think I still would use their 200 limit one? And i am still curious as to their response to the "threat" of closing my account might be, i use air quotes because if they won't drop the monthly fee, I'm gone. I'm not going to pay 5.95 every month for the privilege of being charged a debit card fee to pay the interest I owe.
