lovebug5
Hey all! After a search for this, I came up empty-handed...So I'd love to get some opinions as to where to go next!Long story short:Have a Capital One account on my credit report. Disputed it with the CRA's. At the same time as my dispute, I sent out a letter to Capital One and politely asked for verification of the account because I did not believe that it was mine. I used the address provided to me on my credit report. Account has come back as verified by the CRA's. What else came back to me? My letter that I sent CMRRR. According to the post office, the letter came back as undeliverable. I double checked the address and it is the same one listed on my CR. I know that Capital One doesn't have to DV since they're not a CA, but I would just like some proof of the account. Also, this account isn't new - it was actually opened in 1999 per the report (but not out of SOL thanks to the DOLA). So do I send a MOV to the CRA's?Do I send a second letter to Capital One at the address listed on my CR knowing that it will come back the same way? Or do I look up their current address on the internet and re-send my letter?I just figured that if the address given to me by the CRA's is wrong, and I attempted to verify my account via that address, then it gives me some type of leverage. Try4Gr8Credit
Sticky situation.....especially dealing with Al CapOne. Is the account really not yours?
lovebug5
Sticky situation.....especially dealing with Al CapOne. Is the account really not yours?Totally sticky situation, I agree. I'm disputing the account because the information being reported is most definitely not my information regarding my former account. Yes, I had an account with Capital One nearly 10 years ago - but all of the information regarding that account is different from the information that is being reported. Such as high balance, credit limit, etc. The information is different on all three of my CR's - therefore, I'm attempting to verify it because Capital One has a tendency to be a pain in my tush. Amerikaner83
Lovebug - I think you should RE-dispute with the CRAs. Send in the "returned undeliverable" CMRRR receipt, and write a letter to the CRAs like "Please re-investigate this, as the address you provided had letters returned"...something like that. lovebug5
I got letter from Crap 1 that they do not have records over 7 years old. So if it is something after 7, maybe you will get lucky.I sent email to richard.fairbank@capitalone.com and he forwarded it to some Kathy chick in corporate.Oh, I already Emailed Mr. Fairbank. Received a receipt that not only the Email delivered to him but was also read by him. I have the date and time too. Funny, he has yet to respond...Or take any type of action whatsoever. You're a lucky one!Amerikaner - I'm definitely doing that. Thanks for the input!
debtonator
For the OP FYI:Although my ITS to CAP ONE was mailed to VA it was delivered and signed for in UT. Guess they wanted to have their legal begals look it over before deciding to fold.Capital OneAttn: General CorrespondencePO Box 30285Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0289Cheers
