Success With AFNI!!

Ok, after reading how awful AFNI is about deleting and getting rid of them, I thought my DH and I would have to fight this one all the way to court.

We noticed AFNI on his reports in July, and I immediately sent a DV to them and disputed with the Big 3. All three came back verified at the end of July and Early August...talking like days after the disputes arrived at the big3.

After the 30 days had past, we received a letter from AFNI dated August 21 (right near the 30 day mark) stating that they needed more info from us, they couldn't do an investigation, blah blah blah. Basically talking out of their behinds.

We responded to their letter with a "if you can't investigate, then how did you verify? Either properly validate or delete."

Checked DH's report today on TC and they have deleted from Experian! I expect the other two to be deleted soon as they all showed up on different days as well (and Experian was the first).

We;re pretty excited about this. 1 Because we won't have to go to court, and 2 because this debt really wasn't DH's.

Thanks for all the advice here! Couldn't have done it without it!

I too have had run in with Afni- they removed pretty quickly from EX just removed from EQ about three weeks later and still wating to be removed from TU. On TU they removed one day, posted as OC the next and the following day the OC was removed and Afni was back on, I think they are trying to reage. keep close eye on your reports for anything funny from them.

They are reporting, in fact I now have two TLs for the same account number on my EQ report. They are past the SOL (from 2002 & early 2003). Someone from the Preident's office at ATT called me at work to inform me that the charges were valid, and that they would mail me bills. Prior to me filing a complaint with the AG and the BBB, AFNI just ignored me. It was for an old Cingular account.

Good for you! Since they continued collection activity w/o validation. Offer to settle the debt. Tell 'em to just take the $ out of the $1000 they owe you.
