hi-liter
I've had a measley $300 limit card from Cap One for almost 4 years. I don't use it much b/c it's only a $300 limit and it's been living in the sock drawer for a year and a half. I was actually thinking about canceling it this week. I checked my email this morning and saw more "spam" from Cap One. I always look at the spam before I delete it, just to make sure nothing important is going on. Low and behold this email said they raised my CL to $1800. I really had to do a double take. I immediately logged into my Cap One account online and sure enough, there was my new signifigantly higher CL.I just have one word- WOW!Anyone else have this happen recently? razr
Yep, CapOne ha given me steady CL increases. I never carry more than a $200 balance since the APR still sucks. -r
stefdr
Was just on the phone with them again. I'm apparently still stuck at $500 CL despite 16 months of having a perfect record with them. I've never actually paid any interest, I've always kept it paid off. Maybe because they haven't made any interest $$ from me is the reason they won't raise it. Back to its nest of socks. With the other accounts I have, its kind of useless as anything but an established TL.

Maybe There is no rhyme or reason to some of these decisions. I had three Orchard Bank accounts with perfect history for over two years, all with a $300 CL. They would never give me a CL increase, even though my FICO went up well over 100 points. Then I see ppl on here "yeah, Orchard gave me a $1500 CL"....grrrr!-r
stefdr
When I was speaking to Abu the CSR, he suggested I apply for another Capital One card and maybe I'll get a better credit limit. I don't need another Capital One card, I've had this one for a long time and I have enough Credit Cards as it is. Besides the CC's and the CJ, I have two current auto loans that I make double payments on each month so I'll have them both paid off early. You can see in my siggy what I have now. I'm not going to get another Cap One card, just want the one I have improved.
Rick9972
I get a headache trying to figure out Cap 1. I have 3 cards with them, asked for a 100 cli on one of the cards and they flat laughed at me. Said to try back in six months. Two weeks later they increased the limit on all 3 cards by 200 and cut my interest in half on all 3 and waived the yearly fee on all three. You figure it out. pointman
My scores were climbing but EX and EQ were stating low score reasons were for not having enough credit...I applied online for Cap One in response to a pre-approved offer. Got instant approval and a 1000 CL. $39 annual fee 0% interest till 3/08.Three weeks later... I get another pre-approved offer, $19 annual fee.I don't need another card with a fee but it's there for the taking...
direred
Get the second card and combine into the one with the lower fee.
CleverCynic
Do they actually say PRE-APPROVED or PRE-SELECTED? I keep getting them in the mail saying "we've peaked at your credit recently and think we have the perfect card for you". SO I tried getting one a couple months back (couldn't find the damn pre-select code), they pulled ALL 3, then asked for more info twice, then turned me down. Today I get a huge brown envelope from them with another pre-selection. I just don't know what to do??!!! I hate that they pull all 3 and will again. Plus I have 2 FA's so I know it'll be another hassle either way. Does anyone really enjoy having a cap1 card? I already got seamiles and hooters last month. Even if cap1 approved me and gave me a $300 limit I'd still be pissed for doing it. It says up to $2000, but come on... I really don't trust them. stefdr
Cap one would rather you get multiple cards with them than have one card with a high limit. With multiple cards there is a better chance of you screwing up and them getting some late fees or over limit fees. The last thing they want is somone who is financially responsible and carries a low or $0 balance. It doesn't make good business sense actually. If I had a higher limit card there might actually be a balance. My little $500 CL card with them is going into its third month of no charges on it, and a $0 balance. I might use it again to get a book or two from Amazon, but PIF as soon as the charge shows on the account. It does have the ridiculous 19% APR, but since I PIF every month, they don't make any interest on me.
