Always DV?

Should collection accounts always be DVed? Even if I know I the account is mine? Are there any consequences for DVing an account?

From what I understand...YES! If they can't validate, they will have to be removed from your CR.

A consequence could be pissing them off and having them file suit once they validate, if they can.

You should reply to any initial dunning letter with a DV letter.

If the CA is reporting a debt that is out of SoL, DV them as well.

If the CA is reporting a debt that is within SoL, you may or may not want to DV.

If you're willing to pay up if you have to, go ahead and send a DV.

Answer every dunning no matter what or it becomes yours in their eyes and they will come after it.

Be careful with the items that are in SOL you might wake up a sleeping giant.

First thing is to always DV when you get a dunning.

Second is to look at each TL and see if it is in or out of SOL.
