Prosper, again

Recommended Posts

Yeah it was funny, I actually got an email inviting me to be a borrower now that my information was accepted. I just need to fax my id verification. For those that don't know, Prosper is a Borrower/Lending community for sponsored loans. In order to join you need to have an EX score of at least 520. Well although many of us had that score, we were still denied access as borrowers or lenders. We all figured out that they were probably low-balling scores purposely to help lenders get a better return. Well, I sent in my verification. I'm short money to get my mom's wheelchair lift installed so kind of need the cash.

Good luck with that and post your auction so we can invest.

I tried to join at the beginning of summer but it was a hassle. My bank tells me to give a different routing number for ACH's than the one they print on the checks, so when it came time to fax verification they flagged me or something because of the different info. I explained it and they said to sign up again but I was about to leave for vacation and never went back to it.

Heh thx Cynic. I went to visit her tonight in the hospital and was told that they need to take more of her leg. She hasn't even been home yet or 4 weeks since the last time they amputated! I'm still trying to move as fast as I can with this final CR boost on my Ficos so I can get a ranch and just move her in. No need for the ramp or anything at that point. I found the house, it has 5 bedrooms and the price keeps dropping with the market. I figure, it will still be 2 months on the house at least but my mom should, with prayers, be out of the hospital before that.

Then what's worse is she has medicare and has already met her lifetime maximum. I was called 3 weeks ago and told that I needed to pick her up from the hospital. There was a place that she still had coverage for 2 weeks. I had to physically pick her up and take her to this place cuz she didn't even have enough coverage for an ambulance ride there. We were told that if we can keep her out of any facility for at least 60 days her insurance will reset with a new lifetime maximum. So we need to get this taken care of quickly and at least get her home for a while and pray, A LOT. I don't think we'll have her for very long. Saying she will be here till the end of this year is already pushing it but I'm gonna try my damn best to make sure she's happy when she leaves us.

I think during that phase the attending can state that visiting nurse visits are required, which you can use during that 60 days at home. I think it's up to 100 visits depending on the plan.

You should also be able to get anywhere from 20 to 100 days in a convalescent home, which is probably what you are referring to with the 2 weeks.

Why is she losing her leg? Diabetes? Occlusion (clot)?

I am not in any way an insurance expert!

Diabetes, along with a skew of other health problems. She has time left for a nursing home but she doesn't want to go there. She is already experiencing dimentia and has frequent panic attacks. The only good thing is that I work 3rd shift so most of her calls to me that she is terrified are between 2-4am. The 2 weeks was at a special care facilty we are down to paying 50% cash because of a loophole I found. But the damn hardest thing is getting this wheelchair lift and ramp put in. We've been having fun with the insurance game. The loan from Prosper will at least start to get us in the right direction to getting her home.

Isislc, I will certainly keep you and your family in my prayers. Good luck with Propser! Yours sounds like a worthy cause so is that what gets investors interested?

I have no idea but you're supposed to sell yourself. I'm hoping this will help. My credit isn't quite good enough to get the loan on my own. My step dad seems to want my mom kick off, it's almost like he's trying to play house with the lady down the street. My sister that went and got the first amp done without anyone's knowledge HAS been trying to rush my mom to the grave. The actual PoA only got it because she IS an attorney but is a blubbering idiot that always comes to me to make the decision but won't give it to me. No one is really willing to take the financial burden to get this ramp/lift done. I guess I'm the only sane one left to do it.

Would you guys believe, my 2 sisters have been purposely not paying her bills? They figured if she died, they would have all that money to dig into. What retards, I'm wondering where my genes actually came from since I'm nothing like them. Thanks, Mo, I can use all the prayers I can get. I took her Cinnabons tonight. She hasn't been eating and everyone was happy to see her digging in to 2 of them. :D

Since your likely 350 miles or less away from me. I'm a mechanic, and could probably help you with that wheel chair lift. I take it you have a van already. But from my limited experiance it is cheaper to buy a used van with a lift in it than it is to buy a new lift and install it.

heres one van I found..

Heres one that is likely closer to you..

http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/car/446269283.html

here is a used lift or two for 125 bucks :)

Also, one last thing before you head to Prosper, look at the cardholder agreement that came with your Kays card. There is not much info but it says you can use your card for emergencies, perhaps a call to them would shed some light on how that works. Prosper is a great place, but lately it seems HR's can't borrow 50 bucks if they pay 100 cash up front.

Although I need one of those too, the lift we're trying to get is the one for a porch. My mom's porch is elevated and there is not enough room for the ramp. The neighbors refuse to let us use any of their land. They are hoping that she passes away because they are both interested in acquiring the house to expand either sides property.

The builder we found claims he can do a combo lift/ramp with the space we have and minimal land excavation. Honestly, I haven't even thought of how to convert my van. I have a Chevy Venture and have seen people with small mini ramps where they just wheel the person in and out. I haven't even had a chance to see if a wheelchair would fit in there by removing the middle benches. But damn Merkufan, I didn't even know there was a converted van out there already either!

With having to orchestrate everything so far for my mom and stuck working up to 73 hrs a week it has been hard thinking about anything else. I will call and see what that meant on the Kay card. I do remembering reading that and just not sure what it meant. Glad I have you guys to help me think this over and will most likely take you up on your offer Merkurfan of help. I think I may actually try getting that van. Will save a lot of problems. Thanks a bunch!

Hey Isislc, hoping things are doing better today. Keep doing what you are doing and things will work out. It is not uncommon for one family member to care for someone who is ill, while the others just stand by and watch.

Weigh all of your options before going for the prosper loan thing. I don't know much about them, but you may have some other things available to you that you haven't looked into yet. Have you put up your prosper auction yet?

BTW, read my siggy, I live by it. . .

Haven't put it up yet. Right now is the drastic fight with my sister who is the PoA, she says she is sticking my mom in a nursing home. Wish me and my mom luck, I need to go with her to her Dr.'s appt tomorrow to find out how much more of her leg she is losing. Not sure if I will have to drive us there or if we are all going by ambulance.

Hadn't been off the phone with my mom for 3 mins when my sister called to say that I needed to talk to my mom. She isn't quiting her job or taking a leave and I need to tell my mom she is going to a nursing home. I guess my mom was just being mom today with her and instead of letting it roll off her back, she took it to heart and wants nothing to do with her anymore. I must know what biatches my family can be because I was right on the nose to start checking out Prosper for that loan. I guess they DID get the loan for the ramp and lift but then returned the money because my sister is intent on sticking my mom in the nursing home and washing her hands of her.

She says my mom let herself go and can't control body functions but hey, didn't we do that when we were babies? I know I cleaned my sister's butt a few times from a real good poop. Although I blame myself for her stupidity, I DID drop her on her head a few times. :p

Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait and see about tomorrow and stay strong like I've been. I'll know for sure what direction I need to go after the appt. I'll give everyone an update on the loan status too. Merk also gave me some real good info I hadn't even gotten to yet. Glad I have people here thinking for me too! I appreciate the offers of donations but I don't want to take advantage of a situation either. For all you know, I could be some computer, porn surfing pervert that needs money to pay for the addiction. Nothing like a sob story to get it. Ok no comments from the peanut gallery! For now I need information as to how advanced her condition is. Right now help from everyone in regards to information and services I can repay is greatly appreciated. I live in Milwaukee and have no problems driving to anywhere within a state or 2. I'll give you all an update tomorrow and thanks for the prayers! :D

Isislc, please know that you and your family will also be in my prayers. It's very tough to be the only sane member of a family when you are dealing with an ailing parent. It sounds like you are doing a great job focusing your attention where it needs to be, on keeping your mom as comfortable and cared for while she is still with you. God Bless ...

Yeah, I read it last night but thanks. Well, I'm getting ready to leave right now to the hospital. Wish me Luck! Just waiting on my pull for today with one of my reports before I leave. I'll give you guys an update later this afternoon. Thanks guys!

To check your credit they do soft pulls, you only get a hard pull once you get a loan. The minimum credit limit is 520 but some of us discovered that our scores got lowballed. We were guessing that it was to get a better rate for the lenders.

Well, I was at the doctor for 4 frickin hours with my mom. She DOESN'T need further amputation. They say she is actually doing pretty good for everything going on. They reduced her medicine because she was getting loopy and had to drup her for the ambulance ride. Wonderful! I'm too tired after that long day so will talk about this topic more later.

Good to hear mom is doing good. :) My wife has type 1, so what your mother is going through is likely down the road for her. We've been keeping a close eye on research as they have found some very promising cures for it.

Prosper only reports ontime payments to Experian. Once your in collections, then the CA they use reports to all 3.

Isislc, wana get the rest of the family out of your moms business? have her write them out of the will and get power of atterney before it's to late. Once they know they are cut off, they will likely go away.

I'm in the Twin Cities metro area, so your about half a days drive from me if you ever need anything.

Wow-what a load you have on your shoulders....don't know much about wc lifts...cinnabons? I guess you have to measure the quality of life and simple joys. Taught diabetes mgmt to patients for years and couldn't quite get beyond how tough it was for diabetics once they became brittle. Racking my brain trying to think of a solution other than cold hard cash....social workers and discharge planners couldn't give you any community resources that might help? Sounds like you are doing the right thing despite all others monetary interests. Blessings to you!

Oh and isI, generally-the community resources are in a thick binder with an unbelievable number of resources, but honestly, are seldom perused. Easier to shuffle people out of the system....Ask the social worker or dc planner if you can look through it, maybe one of them will comply.....Just ask nonchantlantly, " Do you have a binder with possible community resources that I could look through......good luck, isI!

Yeah, tried the binder thing and everyone says "oh by the way, please sign over your house". I don't think so. Yeah, after yesterday the crap was flying because of my mom's condition.

My sister forced PoA from my mom, I originally had it, because she is an attorney. A real stupid one that is, blubbering idiot when it comes to making decisions about y mom. She told me that she is sticking my mom in a nursing home regardless and I'm supposed to find her the home to go to. Still wiped out from the day but I think I'm going to force the issue to get the house going so I can take her.

Well, Merk I may be getting your help afterall. I brought up about having to need the vehicle and I think I sold her on the idea since we can't move her without the wheelchair anyways. So may be getting one of those vehicles you showed me. I prefer the full size van, and hitting step dad up for the money so I can avoid the Prosper loan. She can take it for a medical write off anyways. Thanks guys.

Really sounds like things are looking up!! I am happy that you are hanging in there to assist your mother and that you both are getting some good news!! Please keep us updated! And it is great that you may not need to consider the Prosper loan, they don't sound all that nice to work with:shock:

I may be kind of looking up but I'm being told that I'm in denial about the situation and that I should go back on my anti-depression meds because I'm hearing things. That is from the lawyer sister.

This is how bad she is. When my mom almost died on us earlier this year I was working on the campus of the hospital she was in. Wanted to keep her close to me at work in case of an emergency and that day there was. She stopped responding and everything and I had to run over to her in ICU. I was talking to her that night and she had just stopped. I then called her unit on the hot phone and told me she crashed and they were taking her to ICU. When I got there with the nurse, her last words to me was that she was up all night and was just going to sleep for a little. She loved me and glad I was there. She went into a coma shortly afterwards. When I told my sister, she said she didn't believe me that if my mom had anything to say she would have told her not me because she loved her more. I should go back on my meds that I was hearing things. Yeah, real love there.

I'm probably going to put up a blog so people can keep up to date on what's going on if they like. I think I'm gonna have to go to court on this one since I'm not PoA and since it is already activated I don't think anything can be done about it.
