Soccer247
I don't get it..... I thought the FCRA or FDCRA says that authorzation is required for hard edits!!!!! How is it the CA's and OC's can go haywire???? Specifically on Experian!!!! I understand hard inquries hurt more if credit wasn't issued post-inquiry.... But what about scenarios where you never OK'd anyone to run a hard inquiry AND they don't report anything on your credit?!! It's like a drive by shooting..... OH WELL!!! THERE HAS TO BE SOME WAY TO RESOLVE IT!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!EQ has 2 hard inquries:1) T-Mobile 2) Target National Bank 12/2006BOTH had my authorization and resulted in credit being issued.....TU has 5 hard inquries:1) Washington Mutual 7/20072) 1st Premier 12/206Both had my authorization and resulted in credit being issued... BUT there is also............. 3) Coast Professional (collection) 2/20064) Atlantic Creditor (collection) 1/20065) Portfolio Recovery (collection) 3/2007Portfolio Recovery is currently reporting a debt they're trying to collect for MBNA.... I have NO IDEA who the other 2 are. I haven't authorized any of them in any way to check my credit. I thought they can only do a HARD inquiry if they have my authorization......EX has THIRTEEN!!!!!!!!!! hard inquries:1) AMEX 10/20072) HBSC 8/20073) WAMU/Providian 8/2006All 3 had my authorization and resulted in credit being issued.....4) Macy's 7/2007Had my authorization but was I was declined.......5) Pepperdine University 10/20076) Pepperdine University 8/2006This was being reported on my credit but came off August 2007.... WHY the October hard inquiry????7) Coast Professional (collection) 6/2006Don't know why there was an inquiry... They don't currently report anything on my credit and didn't have my authorization to check my credit8) JM Associates (collection) 4/3/20079) JM Associates (collection) 4/2/200710) JM Associates (collection) 9/2006Don't know why theses inquiries were made and BACK TO BACK??? They're not currently reporting anything on my credit and haven't in over 4 years11) Northland Group (collection) 4/2007Don't know why there was an inquiry.... They don't currently report anything on my credit and didn't have my authorization to check my credit12) Marshall & Ziolkowski Enterprise (collection) 2/2006Don't know why there was an inquiry.... They don't currently report anything on my credit and didn't have my authorization to check my credit13) Saferent (residential tenet screen) 12/2005I got the house
CleverCynic
As far as I know... inquiries resulting in a TL being any better than other hard inquiries is a myth.
Soccer247
What about all the things I'm reading that if you sign up for "Fraud Alert" with Experian, you can get most of your hard inquries removed??????
CleverCynic
Very few here have done it, and generally we regard EX inquiries as indestructible. It's probably worth a try. You'll probably get a fraud alert automatically just by disputing some neg's anyway. Then submit your inq removal request in writing. You may get better results only disputing a portion of them. Did you look at them all, and make sure YOU actually applied for all those things? No, I wasn't mortgage or car shopping. I have started disputing with the CRA's but didn't mention the inquiries because I have read that they are impossible to get rid of. Especially with TU.I have placed a FA on my file because there are addresses, inquiries and accounts that are not mine. SSN is mine, birthdate was wrong and they fixed it. nylady
HeyDo a search for Experian Inquiries, Inquiries, Removing Inquiries. You will find lots of info. I placed a fraud alert on my Experian file and had all of the 7 inquiries that I disputed deleted. The only downside to this is that once you place a fraud alert with any one CRA ..they automatically notify the other CRA's. You're told that the alert will remain for 90 days, or you can choose indfinitely until you choose to have it removed. There also seems to be a glitch in the CRA fraud alert system because even after the 90 days is up the alert resets again. I don't mind but it can be a headache when you need to apply for credit. Most merchants will call you to veirfy info about your past credit history(info that only you should know) in order to approve you for credit. Other creditors will not speak to you over the phone but will constantly tell you that a letter was mailed and they need to verify info. They may ask you to provide any of the following: a pay stub, copy of a bill, copy of ss card, copy of w2 stmt..state id card etc. (They usually ask that you fax or mail the documents to them.If you don't mind being inconvenienced for a good cause then go for.Just make sure that you do not dispute inquiries for credit lines that belong to you.Place the dispute and wait the 30 days to see what happens. It seems that EQ inquiries are the easiest to get rid of. this can be done online. One more thing, sometimes when you dispute these inquiries online the CRA will take it upon themselves to add the alert to your file.

lissy
TrueCredit is Transunion's credit monitoring service. It costs about $15/month for unlimited 3in1 FAKO scores and credit reports. I think it is well worth the money but lots of people have been kicked off because of pulling reports daily.
par
So even if you sign up with EX and TU for their respective services, the deletions of hards only work if you file fraud alerts? Or, can you do either or both EX and TU with their service sign up without fraud alerts?
isislc
Yep, working that angle too. Been pulling daily for approx 3 weeks...one inquiry gone. I am more addicted to checking my scores. Even if they are FAKOS...Hun, get PM123 and pull twice daily. I've been pulling twice daily for a month now and lost 5 inqs so far. The next one will drop off in a day or 2. I just make sure I apply for cards or any apps that use either EQ or TU then I get them knocked off. Think I'm going to invest in the EX freeze until I can get my inqs down, at 15 now. someonesomewhere
EQ and TU INQs can still get bumped and/or disputed away. EX INQs are quite a bit tougher, but some folks have had results going the FA route.http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showpost.php?p=752959&postcount=14I'm still daily bumping--only these days I'm using National City.http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showthread.php?t=274851http://www.nationalcity.com/personal/promotions/identityprotect/default.asp
