thorice
October 29, 2007RE: Account # *Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing this letter to you regarding the above referenced account which I had while I was a student at North Central State College. The account in reference was transferred or sold from your agency in Jan, 2003, and still being reported on my credit report as Past Due 180 days 9 times. I paid this account in full on Feb. 2006, and I am simply asking for a courtesy gesture of “goodwill” in having the credit bureaus remove this account from my report. I do recognize that this request is unique and that it may not be Glelsi / Union Bank normal policy. Please consider that the Fair Credit Reporting Act does not demand that all accounts be reported, only that any account that is reported be reported accurately. Therefore, a company does have legal discretion and permission to remove any account it chooses from the credit report. I'm hoping that you will do that in my case for this accountI understand people need to be held accountable for their mistakes and I agree with that entirely, but I would like to explain my situation at the time this account went delinquent. I was 22-years old and going through a severe depression. I experience a tragic lost of a loved one in my family and I felt like I did not want to live anymore. So I just gave up on everything in life that I had going for myself, since I felt I had nothing to live for. After that time period, I sought professional help for my depression, moved to New Jersey and started my life over and even joined the military. I have been in the Navy for 5 years now, and since joining the military I have a different view on life and purpose to live. I have continued to pay any and all bills on time and I have even signed up for auto bill pay online.Today I am the father of a wonderful 8-month old little girl—she is the best blessing I could have ever asked for and the source of joy in my life. Her mother and I would like to purchase a home for our family in the near future as I will be leaving for Iraq in February. My collection with your agency, while paid, is having a negative impact on my credit reports and may prevent us from securing financing for this purchase. I am humbly asking you to please, please give me a second chance by deleting this account. I appreciate that your company has always been courteous and respectful to me, and I appreciate your patience during that tumultuous period in my life. I have tried very hard to rectify the financial damage I did to myself during that time, and I am sincerely asking Glelsi / Union Bank to consider my request. Please let me know if you require any further information from me that would help in reaching a positive outcome. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter and I hope that you will consider my request and I look forward to your reply.Sincerely,Me
newbie7069
I think it sounds great. I would suggest that you send it to the highest level you can find. You are more likely to get somewhere by going to the top than your basic mailing address. You may even consider sending it FedEx as it just adds to the probability that they will open it/accept it.Good Luck.
