macboy
I authorized the dealer to run 1 inquiry for BMW finance. Otherwise I would just use my credit union. Then I come to find out he ran it by like 15 other banks besides BMW finance. What is the best way to remove these?Call the 3 bureaus, dispute online, snail mail? Or call the dealer? Not sure they can remove inquiries...
bigjohnstud4200
send a letter to the dealer and each inquiry. it most likely won't get you far and the good news is that correctly coded INQ's for auto purchases witin 30 days count as one. macboy
Not sure what you mean by "correctly encoded". On my reports it says these Inquiries will remain until 2009. Does that mean they encoded it wrong?
par
Isn't there rule that same dealer runs several within 30 days counts a one inquiry?
bigjohnstud4200
Isn't there rule that same dealer runs several within 30 days counts a one inquiry?Yes. If they coded it correctly (nothing you will see from looking at your CR) FICO will count all 16 as 1.
zfire
Same thing happened to Cranky about a year and a half ago. I wrote a stongly worded letter and sent CMMRto TU and EQ. TU only had 5 and wouldn't budge, but EQ removed all but 3 of the 18 or so (can't remember exactly how many now) inq on his report. Of course we all know what happened to the ones on TU. And yeah, it was all from car shopping...and one dealer in particular did it all. z
merkurfan
I had 64 from one dealer. yes.. 64! I guess they like shopping a loan. Thankfully they where on EQ and I used the method of disputing to get rid of them. When that dealer called and asked if I wanted to trade up my reply was heck no, you submit me to 64 banks! they promised just one, so I went and looked.... second time around was only 31 banks. I made THEM clean up that mess. I just showed them the credit app and where I penned in at the top GMAC ONLY and they called all 30 banks and asked them to remove the inq.I'll bet that required some man hours.
