kata5482
Anyone know anything about dealing with a hardship department?? I am hurting right now and want to see if this can help me at least get under the limits again and maybe avoid going the bankruptcy route. I need to call/deal with chase, bank of america, and Hsbc (gm card), as well as 1fbusa but i already called them and they dont have a hardship department. What kind of reductions can they typically procide you? a big one is chase, my minimum pmt is $850 right now since i am so late!
VeVe
Usually they'll reduce or remove the interest rate. This really does help a lot. But, they may close your account, temporarily or permanently. If they don't have a hardship department, tell the customer service person why you're calling. If they aren't helpful, ask for a manager and push the issue. Most companies will help you in some way. They want to get paid. It's also better that you contact them before they contact you.
