katrina1231
earlier this year (before i found this great site & educated myself on collections) i received a letter offering me a way to pay off an old account by giving me a new credit card. i thought it was a good idea at the time (i know...dumb) so i accepted it. well, now that i've been learning things i know it was a dumb thing to do. what can i do to fix it? it is nowhere on my credit report (neither the old account or this new one through what i have found out to be a collection agency). am i stuck now having to pay the balance? if so i'm just going to pay it off and be done with them (it's only $300) the original account was out of the SOL and i had no idea at the time (once again, i was naive) any insight or advice would be great! Amerikaner83
Don't use the card, pay it off, and be done with it.What you did when you got that new card: you Reset the SOL and you also enabled reporting of a new debt.Cut the card up and never use it again. pay it off and be done.
