SplashAtl
Hello. I am helping my sister repair her credit. A number of her accts have no date listed under date of last activity. Isn't that the date to go off when determining when the acct will come off the credit report? Should every acct have a date of last activity? If they don't how do I know when the acct is suppose to come off the report? Thanks!
swirlgirl
If the account is considered a negative account, then the Date of First Delinquency (DOFD) determines when it will fall off. If you don't see the date or can't determine it from your CR, dispute with the CRAs.
MadMonkey
This is a good example of were good record keeping comes into play. When I went through this a few years ago I was lucky enough to still have my tax records dating back some seven years. I was able to go through credit card statements and check book and figure out exactly the date of my last payment. Thats, when the SOL date starts. The actuall day you sent them your last payment. You add 180 days to that as a safety factor, ie some courts allow creditors up to six months additional on the SOL, to figure the actual SOL date.Absolutely send dispute letters.
