I am reading these forums like crazy but still full of questions.

I would like to list these accounts and please tell me what you think I should do. with each one. This info come from a credit report pulled by a mortgage lender that said "don't bother", my fico was 510.

recreational account issued in 10-2003...reported by XPN, TUC

past due $4100

reported 9-04

Profit and loss write off

$4100 charge off 5-04

account closed on 5-04

telephone account issued 12-04....reported by all 3 CRA's

past due $1832

reported 9-07

profit and loss write off

chared off account

Amount in high credit original charge-off amount

$1832 charge off 10-05

account closed on 10-05

gasoline account issued 9-89....reported by TUC, EFX

reported 2-04

past due $1247

transferred to recover

transferred to recovery

charged off account

$1247 charge off 9-03

..................................also, this same gasoline account is being reported again but says "Collection/CN: and no more info.

It reported on 2-04 to XPN

And, just like so many others, I too have a......

Cap 1 issued 8-2000

reported 2-07

past due $1589

canceled by credit grantor

credit line closed-grantor request-reported by subscriber

charged off account

account closed by credit grantor

So, thank you all very much. I know it's a lot and I appreciate anything anyone has to say to help me take care of this.

You're just gonna have to tackle them one at a time. DV, dispute, or wind up settling if you've got money to work with.

(Charge off doesn't mean anything to you. If they still own it, you still owe it, they'll still try to collect, plus charge you penalty and interest if the original contract allowed. If they have sold it (doesn't look like any of them are sold), the balance would be $0 and the note would say "sold to another lender").

ZeZee, your panicing. You have posted the same request, worded differently in three seperate forums.

Stop. Take a deep breath and relax. You have a credit repair issue that is not going to repair itself overnight. Just looking at what you posted could easily take another four - five years. '

Your jumping ahead, so slow down. Go to this Sticky:

Print it and follow it step by step. Ok ;)

Thank you, Madmonkey,

Thank you for your concern and I did go right to that stickey you posted which I have actually cut and paste onto a doc so I can refer to it often. I don't feel panicky, however, I sure am using that "search" button and asking questions for all it's worth. I am one of those that jumps right in and really focuses, so, that's what you're seeing. Thanks for the concern. I will go cook dinner, calmly, and check back about whether/how to continue as I don't, yet, have an official "requested" CR.

thank you, willingtocope,

that was clearly put and I got it, however, what if they haven't reported since 06 or prior? Is it starting to age towards dropping off?

Its really tough to tell. Some OCs seem to lose interest (no pun intended) in continuing to wreck your reports for awhile, and then suddenly find you again later. Others stop reporting while they're shopping your debt around to junk debt buyers. You'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Incidently, make sure you get complete copies of all 3 major reports directly from the CRAs. Those 3-in-1 things are seldom accurate. If you haven't already, you can get your freebies from www.annualcreditreport.com

Yeh I hear you. Crap1 did this too me. Charge off in 98' Disappeared from my report around 2000. Re-appeared around 2002, and was updated monthly from that point on. When it finally did drop off, and I kid you not, it took up one entire page on my CR report. Crap1's little present to me. LOL. Now my Fico is over 800 and would'nt do business with them for anything.
