Verizon GW help.

so a few days ago i sent a GW to verizon about a bill I had in the past, which after being written as a CO I reluctantly paid. I was over charged for the service and out of pride, refused to pay, well, i ended up paying it and am still stuck with the neg. TL here is the letter and reply. can anyone help me with some possible rewording of this letter for my second attempt.

Mr McAdams,

A few years back I had a dispute in regards to a bill with Verizon wireless. I was treated poorly by a CSR and chastised for my bill payment practices. As I mentioned, I was trying to dispute the charges. I paid the account off in full, against my better judgement. Upon a recent review of my credit report, this transaction is still on my report. Sir, my credit past is not perfect, but I am asking that this be removed from my report. I have tried disputes with the reporting agencies and they all come back as validated, which by my payment they are.

Please consider that the Fair Credit Reporting Act does not demand that all accounts be reported, only that any account that is reported be reported accurately. Therefore, a company does have legal discretion and permission to remove any account it chooses from the credit report. I'm hoping that consideration will be made in my case for this account.

Any assistance that you can lend in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Mr.Blum,

My name is James Pham and I am an Executive Coordinator for Verizon Wireless. This email is in response to your correspondence, in which you request Verizon Wireless to delete the derogatory remark off your credit report. Please allow me to address your concerns.

Our records show this account is a paid in full charge off.

After further review of the account, unfortunately, the credit status is deemed valid and accurate Mr. Blum. The remark will remain on the report until 12/31/09, (7 years after the original date it was written off).

How can I reword this? the CO was in Dec 02 and Paid off in Feb of 05.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

First what the heck does this sentance mean, "so a few days ago i sent a GW to verizon about a bill I had in the past, which after being written as a CO I reluctantly paid.

Second, dings on your credit don't magicaly dissappear because you want them too.

Read all the stickies!!!

These OC and CA have a legal right to f' with you through your credit reports. If you have a charge off, late payment, etc.. and you cannot prove in court that these are false, then guess what, these guys can report it, up to the regulated time allowed by law.

I am sorry my post is harsh, but its time for a reality check.

Its up too you to learn how too play the game, how to create a great defense and offense plan, and to come out as the victor in the end.

There are countless people on this forum that will help you, but the last thing there going to do is offer you some crackers with your WHINE!

HMMMM.... discussion and help forum. "FIRST"I havent looked at the technical def. in the dictionary, but i do believe that my post falls into that qualification and is in the correct place. Also, sarcasm doesnt lend it self well to the written word which is sad because you wont be able to see it dripping. The sentence in question, while not gramatically correct, and possibly filled with spelling errors, makes a bit of sense. I was simply looking for advice, as I am new to this process. I am not whining, but looking for a way to try and remove a report, that due to my ignorant faith in the system was placed on my report. I didnt OWE that money, I was over billed for my account. I paid the account because at the time i felt there was nothing left for me to do. I appologise for not posessing YOUR Omniscience of all things life and credit related, I am also sorry that you replied due to the fact that about a week ago I noticed that most of your replies are judgemental, conceited, and over all lacking in any sort of possitive merit to people who arent lucky enough to be masters of this credit game, as you sir are with out a doubt. Thank you for pointing out the typographical errors in my post, im sure you can find many more in this one. I have read every sticky, and while very informative, they dont happen to cover everything, and since this IS a DISCUSSION FORUM, and not a READ THE STICKIES FORUM, i posted a question for a bit of help. Now while I was hoping for help with the GW process, I was blessed with a grammatical critique to boot. Thank you.

OK everyone - let's can the attitudes.

blum - you really have no options on how to deal with this. You can (and should) keep disputing as "not mine" or "never late" with the CRAs, as there is a chance it'll get deleted. Or you can always re-do a GW letter, use the one I've posted below as a template...please tailor it to fit your situation. Be sure and send it to the CEO's office. For me, that seems to work more often than not. I'm 2 for 3 on GW letters...the 3rd was Crap1, which will fall off next year.

Dear Sir:

This letter is what I hope to be the first and only letter I am writing to you. I had an account with Comcast Cable that eventually went to your company. I was given the opportunity to pay in full on the account without having any additional interest charged, an offer to which I was greatly appreciative.

The agreement was that I pay your company the amount of $149 (One hundred forty-nine dollars) and the account would be considered paid in full, and deleted from all three credit reports. This payment was back in 2003, soon after your office contacted me. I paid by check as soon as I could gather up the funds, and I felt good about finally doing the right thing. I was glad to have that monkey off my back, and it felt good. Since then, I have been able to slowly regain my credit standing, but I was very surprised when I recently pulled my reports and found the tradeline still on there! I, at this point, am very confused.

Please, help me regain my faith in your company by adhering to the original agreement we had in place and delete all tradelines pertaining to any account of mine with all three credit reporting agencies immediately. I wish I didn’t have to bother you with something that may seem to you a trivial matter, but I feel I have no choice. My credit is all I have and I’m trying to make it as good as possible. Please, help me once again try and restore my past mistakes like you helped me before. I will be greatly humbled and appreciative.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely and Respectfully –

Actually Blum there maybe something you can do, at least this worked for me with them. I had the exact same issue. They overbilled me on my final statement and I requested an amended one with the corrected payoff amount. They sent it I paid it and six months later I saw it on my reports showing it as a paid collection. I called up mad as a mofo as they have never reported to the bureau in the 10 years I was with them. They says that because the billings took so long there, of course, was nothing they could do.:(

I disputed with the bureaus to no avail but I came across Verizon CEO's name on this or some other credit website and decided to fire off a letter to him addressing the situation and pleaded for his help. He had some account VP call me and she basically reiterates what all of the other account reps had about the time involved blah blah blah.

Now mind you I had just filed a fourth tradeline dispute regarding this with EQ about a week earlier, claiming it was not mine, and the dispute was still pending. Suddenly it hits me. I ask her to send me a copy of the dunning letter as I had never received one. She stutters and says she wasnt aware if she still had it on file. I gave her a brief crash course on knowing my rights under the FCRA and FDCPA and that I was contemplating filing suit if she didnt produce the letter. I went on to say that she has irreparably damaged my credit and had broken the law by not informing me of Verizon's intentions to post negatively to the bureau. I finished by saying if I didnt receive a copy of the dunning letter, I was commencing suit for alot more money than the amount of the paid collection. 2 weeks later it was deleted off of EQ after having been previously verified 3 times prior in the last 9 months.

Maybe a coincidence but I think not.

Good Luck

WOW. thats a good point. It is kind of unfair, as is life I know, but any one can post anything to your report when ever they want and the big three happily apply it, getting rmoval on the other hand... sheesh.

Thanks for the tip I am about to shoot out another e mail to the higher ups and see how it goes.
