LowScore1
I disputed an account with ASSet and they replied with a letter stated they will report to the CRA as "Disputed" that does not show on my credit report...! it still shows on my EQ as a collection account and nothing about disputed... TU and EX do show as disputed... what can/should I do? also if this shows as disputed, will that show forever and they (the CA) doesnt have to verify? all this started with my DV letter to the CA, or do they have a specific amount of time to try to verify or delete...this is killing me... Experts Please advise.. Thanks
rmuse00
Did you dispute with the CRA's? Here is a chart you can use to guide you along the debt validation process. You can also click on the "debt validation" link at the top of this forum for more on DV'ing. http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation_workflow.shtml

Amerikaner83
they have forever to respond.especially if your DV was untimely, all they have to do (legally) is report as "disputed".
LowScore1
Okay, so they are reporting as "disputed" and never validated, and I just received a "Special Offer" bill from them attempting to give me 33% off if I pay by a certain day. Is this allowed? they followed the rules by reporting as disputed, but can they still try to collect even if they havent followed through with a validation? merkurfan
If your dv was untimely all they must do by law is mark the TL disputed. They can continue to collect till the cows come home. wait awhile. I just got a settlement offer on a old utility bill from 1990 or so. Half what they say I owe! Since if memory serves me right the bill was 100 bucks, their 250 dollar offer is still to high to get me to pay. Then again, they could offer to settle for a buck and I still would not pay their unvalidated debt.
