Another goodwill letter worked for me today! 5 TL's for outstanding traffic citations were on my EX, (my worst). All paid collections. sent a GW letter to collections manager and made it very sappy. worked like a charm! got an email tonight that all 5 will be deleted and they even sent me an attachment to the email containing their letter to the CRA's explaining that my accounts were and error and needed to be removed immediately!!!!!!

1 more victory on the long battle to better credit!

On Monday 12/3/2007 I sent out 3 goodwill letters, and emails. One company (Applied Bank Card) has already sent me back an email stating that the credit bureaus have been contacted to remove the derogatory account from my credit report.

Here's the email I received today:

Your correspondence to Applied Bank has been referred to me for review and

response.

Applied Bank has instructed the consumer reporting agencies to delete the

above-referenced account from your credit files. Please allow the consumer

reporting agencies 60 days to update their information.

Sincerely,

Laurie Abel

Executive Resolution Specialist

The ones left remaining: Capital One, Wells Fargo. I'll keep everyone posted

I just posted a question about goodwill letters in the Credit Repair forum! Not to steal the show here but I have a CA shown as Paid on my CR from an energy utility company. Does anyone have any experience with this working with utility companies? I am assuming I email the goodwill letter to the CA and not the utility company, correct?

I just search the forum for a specific creditor/CA. Most of the time someone has already listed an email address that they used to send a goodwill letter. Then, I just follow suit.....I must say that this website is great because I have gotten so much advice reading through the forums, and I've been able to turn it into results. Thanks, everyone for your time, and great advice

The only utility company ive ever got deleted was very simple. the day after I paid them, I just disputed the TL as "not mine". they couldnt validate a debt so EX and TU both deleted the entire TL. I never had to even send a GW letter. GW letters have been very effective for me. 21 bad TL's gone in less than a month

A dispute reason, "not mine", or any reason given, is just to prompt the CRA to investigate. Chances are, if paid and/or old, a utility will no longer have the account in their records. Purged, gone, unverifiable. Therefore, the CRA must delete.

If the dispute does not work, then you can go through the leg work of sending out a GW letter.

I disputed a paid charge off from our electric utility and it was deleted no problem. We had paid back in 2003 so it was pretty old and evidently purged from their files.

Thanks Kim!

Mine was paid only a year ago and was paid to CA. Does anyone have any idea how long it usually takes for a CA to purge their files? In my case it is with a CA and not the energy company, I don't know if the CAs hold onto files longer. Does one disute as "not mine" by mail or is it done online?

I think I would just go ahead and try a dispute of the TL. If you have disputed before, just be sure to use a different reason. It can be anything, not mine, wrong balance, ect.

I'm new at this too, but, after reading this forum, over and over, I have come to the conclusion that I should just try what ever seems right, what others and the "rules" say is legal and what has worked for others. It will either work for me or it won't and if didn't, well, I'll just try another angle.

You have nothing to lose and possible a deleted negative to gain!
