Friedman's Jewelers, anyone? Does 7-10 days mean NO?

Recommended Posts

Well, there's my question, in the title.

Friedman's is serviced through WFNNB, which is the company that services the store cards I had back in '94 or so, which I don't use anymore (maybe used one in '01) and are still reporting as open and in good standing on my CR. So I thought they would serve as a good reference for me.

I filled out their very simple application, where they ask for a major credit card (do they cheap out and avoid paying for a credit report by simply verifying a major card??) and after the revolving dots went by, I got the "7-10 days by mail" message which I can't help but think is a big fat REJECTION. Is there hope, anyone think?

DH applied for this card last Saturday and got the same message. We called WFNNB and were given the number for new credit...turns out they are closed on Saturdays! So we went into the store and he was approved for the Installment account through CIT BK for $3400.

He called the new credit at WFNNB on Monday and was told that he wasn't approved and he wasn't denied, and that it was still processing. I'm going to get him to call tonight to see if it went through, and if it did, I'll get him to put whatever he bought on the installment account (ie: my engagement ring, that had been on layaway for 1.5yrs!) on the new card as it would have no interest charges and no payments for either 1 or 2 years and the installment charges interest.

I'll keep ya updated! :)

So DH called to see where the status of the application was, and he was told the the New Credit Dept. could not approve him....however, it was pushed up to some higher level for more processing, and he'll receive a letter with a contact number to phone. They did say that he most definitely hadn't been denied....yet

I figure that because of his FA they want to verify his identity.

Hopefully this is all a good wait, and he won't be denied when he calls! :)

I'm still thinking that they manually verify each online application because of the lack of important info asked...ie: employment, income....
