Sears help

I have an old account from Sears wich now is being handled (assigned to) by Northland group,LVNV funding LLC. Sears and Northland are both reporting. There is no doubt I owe this...know dispute there. My original balance owing was $600- now it is $1,393 and some change. Northland is offering me a settlement of $710 and "your account will be Satisfied and closed", and a release letter will be issueed".

Do I bother sending a DV? Do I jump on the deal (money is tight now)? Or should I try to negotiate with a PFD?

Anyone have experience wiyh this agency? I want to take care of this, as I said I owe the money, things have just been tough, you all can relate or you would not be here.

Thanks everyone.

If you do a search for LVNV, you'll find a good number of threads about the problems that people have run into with this agency. Based upon their history that I've read on this and other forums, I wouldn't agree to settle with them on their terms. If you've got the cash to pay them despite money being a little tight, I would only agree to pay them in exchange for written confirmation that the account will be removed from your CR's.

It's been my experience that CA's who send settlement offers and receive payment after do not delete the account upon receipt of payment. Instead, they update the account on your CR's which ends up re-aging it. Careful!

Lovebug5:

In glancing through the searches of LVNV, I am finding out that of course they are the Creditor now and have assigned it to Northland group. On my Credit report Sears shows Transferred, Closed. But also shows Written off & charged off. with a Balance still showing. Should Sears now show $0 balance?

At any rate whom should i deal with? LVNV or Northland? Its no wonder people dont like doing this stuff, there are so many things that need to be done.
