jemini
I recieved a collection letter today which has me asking several questions, maybe some of you can help me figure this out. My hubby and I lived in a rental home, which we have now purchased, but the owner had not paid the Homeowners Assoc. fees before we bought the home. He did pay before closing but there was a lein put on the home prior to closing. All was paid, closing was a done deal about a year ago. Now some CA sent a letter today trying to collect for the Homeowners Assoc. Who would they have purchased this account from? There is no dollar amount due in the letter, they also say they have tried several times to contact(BS). I have proof that the bill is paid so should I just send it to them or DV them to see how they got this info?

jemini
Thanks for the replies. I was thinking just DV them but I wasn't sure. I really don't want to take any chances of having them put it on the CRA's though. I'll have to do up a special letter just for them.

Amerikaner83
If your state has some nice consumer laws as well - I like to add that to my DV letters...so they know I know about state laws as well. Just a little extra addition for flavor ...in accordance with the FDCPA and any and all applicable laws of the State of Georgia, i dispute your claim...blah blah blah
