Jena29
What is everyone's thoughts on COB? I got a COB card back in March 2006 while rebuilding credit. Heard good things about them. Whopping $250 CL, with $5.95 monthly fee and some annual fee too- $69? Anyhow, always paid it on time. Since April 2006!! Called to ask for CLI becuz I was denied a refinance due to low scores, due to low credit limits on cards and 2 OLD accounts I have not been able to remove (falling off early 2008 anyway). So, I thought I'd ask for a CLI and I was denied! I couldnt' believe it. I have since been able to get a no fee card and have had my Orchard CL increased, I also got a Target card and have a Crap One ($39 annual fee- $750 CL).I guess I just had to vent about COB. I am going to close the card out- I know it will have a temp negative affect on my score, but why should I continue to pay them- they're not helping me! My Orchard and Crap One were gotten around the same time, so they are aged the same amount of time.
whocares
I would get rid on COB, try getting a few new TL's like Crown Jewelers (no credit check) nad they report a 1500.00 linit, this should help you establish a higher credit limit and inprove your score
lovebug5
Credit One Bank is obviously a subprime card with fees and APR's to drive some of us crazy. However, they did grant me a card relatively quickly out of my BK discharge. I have one of my monthly bills automatically charged to the card - my balance never goes over $25 per month and it's obviously PIF with every single statement. I'm not concerned about CLI's, I'm more concerned about showing a positive payment history with some length. So if that means paying $5.95 per month knowing that my payment history is being reported to the big 3, I'm going to keep that card solely for that purpose. If you've never been late on a payment, never gone over your CL and truly feel that there's no reason why you haven't been given a CLI...I have the name, address, phone and fax to the Office of the President at Credit One Bank. You could send a letter explaining your frustration, provided that you've never defaulted, and see what happens from there.Of course I won't post all of this information publicly for the sake of keeping the contact valid - as we all know, once they start getting bombarded by consumers at the corporate offices, they have a tendency to change the information and/or refuse communications. How true that is. Unless it's a CA - then their info is allowed to be here - we can spam them all we want to

Then the next rep. said I needed to fax in Drivers license which-I did. Then I called and 2 weeks later they never received anyhting. Then I was told "I did it all wrong....I had to reapply and I should mail in the Drivers license copy"...then I called and asked for a manager-was hung up on twice after I said hello.....Very Dissapointed

razr
Credit One is fine for rebuilding, but should be given the boot when possible.-r
itrev82
I got rid of them pretty quick after I got some of my higher limit cards. Figured I didn't need to pay for them any more.
merkurfan
I recently fired them too. I called and asked for a CLI before I fired them. They said, and I quote "with your scores? I don't think so" I asked if they looked at my report, reporting was the sterling trifecta at 1500 each, HSBC reporting at 2000 and Walmart Discover reporting at 3000.. He said No. I said take a look..he said he did see the higher CL's but the system still said no to any CLI from the 200 they gave me.I said thank you, pif'd and then closed the account. My AF was going to hit next month. It was my oldest open CC TL, but I was not about to keep paying for a 200CL.
LeslieR
So far, my experience w/ COB has been good. They gave me an automatic CLI from $250 to $500 in a very short amount of time (less than six months). I've had Orchard for 3 years and they've given me nothin'....still sitting at the pathetic $200. They have a steep set of beginning fees (original available credit out of $300 was only $141) and they charge $6.50/month, but the one I have charges no interest and they waived the annual fee this past year for me. I started at $300 and I've gotten steady $100 and $50 increases so, now, 15 months after I got the card I have a $750. I'm looking forward to another CLI in another couple months. I received a letter from them in the mail stating that they only review accounts for CLI's after the 6-month mark, that this is their standard procedure, etc. Hmph.
