DMas557
This is my first post so I hope it is okay!! I have a verizon account on my credit report with last activity on 05/14/2003 and showing balance of 66.00. Am I correct in sending a letter saying SOL ran out? PA shows 4 years. Am I right or misunderstanding?
Freak
Who are planning to send the letter to?The CRAs don't care about the SOL, and neither does Verizon for that matter. The SOL only offers protectionin the form of a defense on the legal front from the debt being collected. It has nothing to do with what is listed on your CR, or even Verizon or a CA from attempting to collect it.
ann l
The SOL is 6 years in PA....you need to contact Verizion...offer to pay only if they delete the debt from your report...and get it in writing!!! Do not give any infomation or offer to pay any money!!! You may also want to get a recording device from Radio Shack and tape the conversation...but first find out if it is legal in your state.Who are planning to send the letter to?The CRAs don't care about the SOL, and neither does Verizon for that matter. DucknCover
The SOL in PA is 4 years...not 6. But as was previously stated, it's just a point at which you have an affirmative defense if you're sued. The debt is not extinguished. For $66 why are you messing around with them? Contact Verizon and give them a sob story about how this was accidentally overlooked. If you're real nice and apologetic about it they might agree to delete the trade line for payment. Even if they don't agree to delete, it's in your best interest to pay such a small bill if you ever want to get service from Verizon again...including a land line.
