mommabear
Back in June, the cashier asked me if I wanted to save 10% by opening up a Red Card..."What the hell" I thought. She ran my license through, and I came back approved for $200.September's statement came...Bumped me up to $500. I'd charge like $100 on it, then PIF every month.Tonight, I went to use it...total was $95ish, I put my card into the machine, and instead of just asking me "Total $95.XX, ok to continue?", there were buttons (touch screen) with options on them (The only one I remember was EFT..along with the standard number buttons). I hurried through it and got to the signature screen, but when I thought about it, I don't remember it giving me options before.lol...for those of you with a better memory than me, is this standard and I just never paid attention, or is this something new? This is just a regular old Red card store card. Thanks.
merkurfan
I think the red card can be used as a target check card too. it bypasses your charge account and just processes like a electronic check.

brokeinok
Target has three cardsThe VISAThe Red Card - a store only credit cardThe Debit Red Card - not credit, just an EFT out of your checking good only at Target. I think this is to develop a relationship for those who haven't qualified for the red but who would like to at a later date.
mommabear
This is a store only card. I might just have to go there tonight for something to see what it is I saw again. lol.
Moneedshelp
I thought the red card and the check card were different
lovebug5
From what I understand, the check card is different from the Guest Card. As was said above, the check card automatically EFT's your purchase from your checking account...

merkurfan
No, I think they check with their check processor. Centergy or what ever they are called.
janedoe2
mommbear- The same thing happened to DH. He has a redcard, not visa and not check card. He asked why the new requirements/signature and cashier said doesn't know. Receipt just says target card as payment method.Merkurfan- Not sure how a store redcard can bypass the credit account and debit directly out of one's checking. Target doesn't have our checking acct info. I do know if you write a check at Old Navy or WallyWorld they do EFT and give you back you check at the register.Regardless, the purchase took a few extra days to show up on the account history anyway. janedoe2
This is a good alternative. Do they check CheckSystems?I thought it was SCAN. They have stickers on the front doors that show what they use.TeleCheck is another popular one. CheckSystems is for opening bank accounts.
merkurfan
and payday loans. No credit check my butt.. I applied for one once, said "NO CREDIT CHECK" right on the main page. I am still fighting with them over their pull of my chex report. No I did not accept the loan. even with the 50% discount I had, they still wanted 200 bucks to loan me 700 for 2 weeks. I just made the land lord wait.

mommabear
^^^lol!!!That is something I never thought about!! Using a CC as an ice scraper! I usually just dust off what I can then let the heater take care of the rest.I have to run into Target tonight after work (hope it doesn't hurt) and get some cleaning supplies. I will use my Red Card and see what happens.\Thanks for your responses!
